A time of great tribulation after a false peace is approaching, especially for Israel, but it will be followed by a great time of eternal thanksgiving by all who have known Jesus Christ as their Messiah.
The great prophet Zechariah describes this time of great tribulation for Israel, but clearly indicates it will be followed by a time of prayerful thanksgiving.
Zechariah 13:8,9 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. [9] And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
Zechariah also indicates that, during this time of great tribulation, the city of Jerusalem
will fall, but assures its occupants its warfare will end when it has received double for its rejection of its Messiah, and will once again become the city of the Living God. Jerusalem’s occupants will only be cut off from the c ity temporarily, and will return to inhab
it it after it receives double for its rejection of his Son.
Zechariah 14:1,2 – Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst
of thee. [2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
The prophet Isaiah also speaks in great detail of this time of pardoning following the great warfare the city will go through.
Isaiah 40:1,2 – Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. [2] Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.
When the set time is come, Messiah will arise to them, and have favor and mercy upon Jerusalem, the holy city of God.
Psalm 102:13 – Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.
The Gentile nations will watch the building stones of Ezekiel’s Millennial temple being put in place, and Israelis will rejoice in its rising to its place of prominence from the dust of its fall among the Gentile nations.
All Israelis across the sur face
of the earth, who survive the great tribulation period, will favor the dust of their motherland Israel, and will return to it rejoicing. For a thousand years God will favor the nation of Israel above all nations. He will fill her with his glory, and all the nations of the earth will fear Israel because of their fear for its God.
Psalm 102:14,15 – For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. [15] So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.
After the Millennial Temple is completed in the building up of the city of Zion, Messiah the Prince, Jesus Christ, illuminating the Shekinah Glory of God, will enter the completed temple, and dwell among his people for a thousand years in the earthly
city of Jerusalem. Shekinah or Shechinah, means “to dwell” in the Hebrew language.
Psalm 102:16 – When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.
Ezekiel 43:1-7 – Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east: [2] And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.
[3] And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.
[4] And the glory of the Lord came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. [5] So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house. [6] And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me. [7] And he said unto me, Son of man, the place
of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.
