Five will get you ten that the M-16’s came from the U.S., and were like the one I used in Vietnam.
We had to clean ours, but when they have gotten the rifling dirty from firing it in the air and screaming against the big and little devil, they probably just get another issued to them.
How anyone in their right mind could ever imagine any agreement with Fatah would be kept is beyond me.

DEBKAfile Exclusive: Olmert greets Rice with further concessions for Abbas despite discovery of Palestinian fraud over Israel amnesty
August 1, 2007, 2:50 PM (GMT+02:00)
It has come to light, according to our military sources, that the weapons handed in two weeks ago by 168 Fatah-al Aqsa Brigade terrorists in return for immunity from Israel military pursuit were World War I vintage Italian carbines left behind by Turkish troops when they quit the country in 1917 and Mauser rifles from the 1930s. None of the terrorists surrendered their personal side-arms according to their pledge.
The furious demand from Israeli commanders that the government tell the public how it was conned was turned down by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Ehud Barak. They were deaf to the arguments that the amnestied Palestinian terrorists remain fully armed and able to resume attacks at any time and that Palestinian leaders, who refuse to admit to the fraud, have nothing but contempt for their agreements with Israel.
Nonetheless, DEBKAfile’s Jerusalem sources reveal that Olmert plans to inform US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice when they meet Wednesday, Aug.
1, of two new concessions for Abbas’ Fatah regime.
1. Israel will for the first time permit officers of the Palestinian Badr force,
which is part of the Jordanian army, to enter the Was Bank.
Each entrant must be personally cleared by President Bush’s security coordinator Gen. Keith Dayton. Olmert refused Abbas’ request to admit the entire Badr force.
2. Israel will waive special permits for Palestinian officers and men traveling to Egypt and Jordan for military training. DEBKAfile’s sources report that the IDF and Shin Bet are against this concession because it denies them the resource for keeping track of the travelers and leaves them free to build contacts with outside terrorist agents.

Fatah’s Al-Aksa Brigades Terror Group Remains Defiant, Reckless
23 Tammuz 5767, 09 July 07 10:21
by Ezra HaLevi
(IsraelNN.com) Fatah’s pledge to disarm its Al Aksa Brigades terrorist group has not been fulfilled and the group’s terrorists still rule the streets of PA-controlled Judea and Samaria.
The group issued a press release Friday night demanding Fatah chief Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) fire Fatah’s Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. Fayyad, who is trusted by the US and controls the bank account through which Western monies are funneled to the PA, was appointed when Fatah established its own government in Judea and Samaria after being overthrown in Gaza.
He has recently called for Al-Aksa Bridages to be dismantled and warned Islamic preachers that they would be arrested if they incited against Fatah.
Al-Aksa Brigades accused Fayyad of “providing Hamas with a free service and giving it an alibi to attack the emergency government and its policies, since such statements [calling for local terror groups to be disarmed] indicate that this government is against the resistance.”
The group also quoted Fayyad’s interview with CNN where he claimed that local terror gangs had “brought misery to the Palestinian people” and said: “Now the truth is clear to us. Fayyad is America’s man in Palestine, he is the first Palestinian Prime Minister who carries an American citizenship.”
Al-Aksa Terrorists Use Guns at High School Finals
Dozens of armed Fatah terrorists claiming membership in the Al-Aksa Brigades group stormed high school matriculation exams in Shechem Saturday, shooting in the air. They expressed outrage that they were not being allotted a special room to take tests in, which they claimed was necessary “for security reasons” as many are wanted by Israel.
School officials were hesitant to grant the request due to fear of widespread cheating.
More than 500 students had to wait hours until they were permitted to continue their exams.
The Al-Aksa terrorists reportedly are seeking to obtain high-school diplomas in preparation for being hired by Fatah’s security forces, which offer a higher salary for high-school graduates.
Fatah will reportedly offer amnesty to terrorists who join the security forces, offering them a salary and the ability to keep their weapons in return for loyalty to Abbas and Fayyad. The terrorists who join the forces will presumably receive American military training together with the rest of Fatah’ s armed group

How PA Gunmen Pass High School Exams
Khaled Abu Toameh (Jerusalem Post)
July 11, 2007
Earlier this week, some 150 Fatah gunmen stormed a number of schools in Nablus and demanded to take high school matriculation exams in special halls.
One of the teachers said most of the gunmen cheated. “They opened books and copied the answers word by word,” he said. “We were afraid to stop them because they were carrying M-16 rifles.”
