Jewish Highest Holy Days at the Door!

The highest Jewish Holy Days will begin next week, and congregations have already started to hold preparatory services and sound the shofar every morning.
The Holy Days for which Jews are preparing begin on Monday, October 3 at sundown with the launching of Rosh Hashanah,
and Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) begins at sundown on October 12. Yom Kippur is a Day of Atonement when the Jews ask the Lord for forgiveness through fasting and repentance.
Synagogues hold all day services the eve before Yom Kippur. During the services, confessions and Scripture readings finally end the Holy Day. Many of the Orthodox Jews remain standing during the entire service to show their devotion.
Yom Kippur is the most Holy of all the Jewish holidays. It is the great Sabbath of Sabbaths. On Yom Kippur the Book of Life is closed and sealed.
Those who have repented for their sins are granted a good and happy New Year.
The five prohibitions of Yom Kipper are (1) Eating and drinking, (2) Anointing with perfumes or lotions, (3) Marital relations, (4) Washing, and (5) Wearing leather shoes.
Since Yom Kippur is a time of fasting, this weekend will be a time of much feasting in preparation for the fasting. The blowing of the shofar at sunset on October 3 will mark the beginning of Rosh Hashanah.
Leviticus 25:9 – Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day
of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
The blowing of the shofar is the only specific commandment for Rosh Hashanah. In the ancient cultures, trumpeters announced the presence of their kings among them. The shofar is is used by the Jews to sound the coronation of King Messiah.
It is blown 100 times.
It is supposed to remind Jews everywhere of the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, to fulfill God’s command.
Genesis 22:10-18 – And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. [11] And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. [12] And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. [13] And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. Galatians 3:16,28,29 – Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises
made.
He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
[28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
[29] And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Romans 2:28,29 – For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: [29] But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
