I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Both Jews and Gentiles have long cried for peace on earth, but it will not come until the nation of Israel has spent some 1260 days in the Negev Wilderness surrounded by Islamic enemies (See Archive Prophecy Update Number 321 on our Web Site}. The cry for peace of a lasting nature, rather than a hudna (truce), will be more intense during this period, but it will not come until the seven vials of God’s wrath is poured out on unbelievers left behind on the sounding of the 7th Trumpet. Many unbelieving Jews will believe during this period, and God will protect their physical lives during this period, bringing them into the Millennium as the apple of his eye.
Luke 21:11 – And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

After a final great shaking, the Prince of Peace will return at his 2nd Advent, Israel will be restored as God’s people, the Millennial Temple will be built according to the instructions in Ezekiel, and Christ will reign as the One Glorious God of both Jew and Gentile.

Tehran: Twin earthquakes that devastated rural villages in northwest Iran on the weekend killed 306 people, most of them women and children, and have sparked fears of disease outbreak, officials said on Monday.
Another 3,037 people were injured, of whom 2,011 were given first aid at the scene and the rest were taken to hospital, where 700 surgeries were performed, Health Minister Marzieh Vahid told lawmakers in a report published on the parliament’s website.
“We are continuing the search for bodies,” she said. Authorities called off rescue operations on Sunday after saying all possible survivors had been recovered.
Another official addressing the lawmakers, Hassan Ghadami, a deputy interior minister in charge of crisis management, said: “Many of the victims were killed in the first hours (after the quake) due to the mass of muddy rubble… and the old structure of houses in the region.”
The head of Iran’s emergency services, Gholamreza Masoumi, meanwhile warned of a possible outbreak of infectious diseases as homeless survivors huddled in unsanitary conditions, lacking water and portable washrooms, the Fars news agency reported.
“Another important issue is a large number of animal corpses scattered in the area and inside water resources,” he said.
The two earthquakes, measuring 6.4 and 6.3 on the moment magnitude scale, rumbled through northwest Iran on Saturday in quick succession, levelling mud brick and concrete homes in villages to the northeast of the city of Tabriz.
The head of Iran’s Red Crescent, Abdul Hussain Fagih, told the same hearing in parliament that 230 villages had been badly damaged, including a number totally destroyed. Many others suffered moderate damage.
Iran’s government has launched a fund to quickly rebuild homes in the mountainous region before the onset of the harsh winter in around four months.
A state grant of nearly $2,000 per family has been approved, along with low-interest loans for up to $6,000, according to first vice president Mohammad Reza Rahimi.
Fagih said the Red Crescent has provided relief for the more than 16,000 people left homeless, distributing thousands of tents and blankets, and food and water.
Iran rejected offers of outside help in the wake of the quakes from a number of countries, including the United States, Germany, Taiwan, Singapore and Russia. It said it could cope with the disaster itself.
“We received offers of help from several countries… but as we have sufficient men and resources we did not need this foreign aid. We thanked them for their offers,” Fagih said.
However, state television reported on its website that one aid shipment from Turkey had entered Iran.
Thirty-four relief workers accompanied the cargo, comprising two trucks carrying 20 tons of food, tents and heaters, the television website said.
Iran sits astride several major fault lines and is prone to frequent earthquakes, some of which have been devastating.
The deadliest in recent years was a 6.6-magnitude quake which struck the southeastern city of Bam in December 2003, killing 31,000 people – about a quarter of the population – and destroying the city’s ancient mud-built citadel.

Here is a timeline of some of the major earthquakes in Iran in the past four decades:
April 10, 1972: An earthquake measuring 7.1 magnitude struck southern Iran around Ghir Karzin, killing 5,074 people.
September 16, 1978: 15,000 people were killed by an earthquake measuring 7.8 magnitude, which levelled the eastern desert town of Tabas and many nearby villages.
June 11, 1981: A quake measuring 6.9 magnitude destroyed the town of Golbaf, 800 km southeast of Tehran, killing about 3,000 people and injuring more than 800.
June 21, 1990: 50,000 died and 100,000 were injured in the worst recorded disaster in Iran. The quake, magnitude 7.4, devastated the Caspian regions of Gilan and Zanjan. About 500,000 were made homeless.
May 10, 1997: A quake measuring 7.3 magnitude killed 1,567 people in rural areas of eastern Iran near the Afghan border.
June 22, 2002: An earthquake measuring 6.5 magnitude razed dozens of villages in north Iran’s Qazvin province, killing 261.
December 26, 2003: An earthquake measuring 6.6 magnitude devastated the city of Bam, 1,000 km southeast of Tehran, killing about 31,000 people.
February 22, 2005: A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.4 in southeast Iran killed 612 people and injured more than 1,000 in and around the town of Zarand in Kerman province, about 700 km southeast of Tehran.
August 11, 2012: Two strong quakes, measuring 6.4 magnitude and 6.3 respectively, killed at least 250 people and injured 2,000 near the city of Tabriz, East Azerbaijan province, a mountainous region that neighbours Azerbaijan and Armenia.

A volcano which suddenly erupted for the first time in more than a century has covered parts of New Zealand’s North Island in thick grey ash over several miles.
The eruption of Mount Tongariro, one of three volcanoes in the centre of the island, burst into life just before midnight on Monday after more than 115 years of lying dormant.
Police said a witness described flashes and explosions followed by a cloud of ash more than 4 miles high (7km) coming from the Te Maari craters on the northern face of the 1,978m (6,490 ft) mountain, which lies within a designated national park.

*Tongariro is a complex of multiple volcanic cones constructed over a period of 275,000 years. There have been five reported eruptions from the Te Māri craters between 1855 and 1897 and these have since been dormant until 2012.
*Sitting 48 km offshore, White Island (Whakāri) is one of New Zealand’s most active cone volcanoes which has been built up by continuous volcanic activity over the past 150,000 years. About 70 percent of the volcano is under the sea, making this massive volcanic structure one of the largest in New Zealand.

Tectonic Chaos – Wobbling Earth, Moving Islands and Mountains,
I have claimed, for almost 30 years, that the earth would wobble back and forth on its axis during the tribulation period due to mass tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, and that during the last three and one-half years of it, every mountain and island would eventually move to a new micro-second set of latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates. It makes the activity being reported by the terrifying events of the last few days cause my thoughts to wander to a future tribulation period with a much greater number of even larger tsunamis.

You will also find a full exposition of the type of phenomena we have just observed in Southeastern Asia in Chapter 4 – Fleeing Islands and Moving Mountains, and in Chapter 7 – Sinking Ships and Shaking Shores, which is a preview of what I anticipate to occur on a worldwide basis during the coming tribulation period. According to some geophysicists, the 9.0 tsunami producing earthquake was so powerful that it made the earth wobble on its axis and, according to one expert it may have moved small islands as much as 66 feet. The northwestern tip of the Indonesian territory of Sumatra has shifted to the southeast, possibly as much as 120 feet. Some of these movements have been a combination of both vertical and horizontal displacement. The number of deaths associated with the tsunami has been revised upward so many times, and associated deaths related to its aftermath conditions are still causing higher and higher estimates, such that my quoting the latest estimate would be of little value. The first earthquake in the book of Revelation will likely be much greater than the one that produced this current catastrophe in southern Asia, and will mark the beginning of the last three and one-half years of the great tribulation period. The last earthquake in Revelation will, in modern jargon, be the mother of all earthquakes.
THIS IS THE FIRST EARTHQUAKE IN REVELATION.
Revelation 6:12-14 – And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was A GREAT EARTHQUAKE; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; [13] And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. [14] And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; AND EVERY MOUNTAIN AND ISLAND WERE MOVED OUT OF THEIR PLACES.
THIS IS THE LAST EARTHQUAKE IN REVELATION.
Revelation 16:18-20 – And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was A GREAT EARTHQUAKE, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. [19] And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. [20] And EVERY ISLAND FLED AWAY, AND THE MOUNTAINS WERE NOT FOUND.

Birth Pang Number 2, Chapter 4 – Fleeing Mountains and Islands
To know that more than 95% of all earthquakes are associated with movement of the world’s tectonic plates, as outlined in BIRTH PANG NUMBER 1, can help us to better understand Revelation 6:12A & 14B, along with Revelation 16:18B & 20. Revelation 6:12A – “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake;” and 6:14B – “And every island and mountain were moved out of their places.” Revelation 16:18B – “And there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great,” and 16:20 – “And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.”
There are several interesting correlations between God’s tectonic plates, his mountains and islands he formed on them, the earthquakes they produce, the latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates of the islands and mountains that ride on them as they float on subterranean lakes of magma, and scriptures referring to islands and mountains in Revelation. Mountains and islands are mentioned TOGETHER only twice in the entire Book of Revelation, once in 6:14 and again in 16:20. The correlations are as follows: (1) The first earthquake in Revelation occurs on the opening of the sixth seal. (2) The last earthquake in Revelation occurs on the pouring out of the seventh vial of God’s wrath. (3) All the terrifying earthquakes, fire, and brimstone of the tribulation period occurs between the sixth seal and the seventh vial. That is not by chance, accident, or coincidence! (4) All the mountains and islands begin to change their latitudinal and longitudinal positions on the opening of the sixth seal (the first earthquake), then continue to move in association with earthquakes from the seventh seal through all seven trumpets, and up to the seventh vial of wrath (the last earthquake). All the islands and mountains reach their final geographical positions on the pouring out of the seventh vial of wrath.
God will suddenly accelerate worldwide tectonic plate movement on the opening of the sixth seal. This will produce the fantastic holocaust described by John in Revelation from the first earthquake in Revelation 6:12 to the final earthquake in Revelation 16:18. The fleeing islands in Revelation 16:20 does not mean all the islands of the earth sank below sea level. It means literally what it says. A fleeing man is a moving man. It means the islands moved. Also, verse 20 does not mean all the mountains on the earth were leveled. It simply means they were not found in the same precise geographical location after the great shaking, which occurred between Revelation 6:12 and 16:20.
The first unleashing of a pattern of worldwide earthquakes begins in the Jordan River Valley, and eventually causes two things to occur: a noticeable movement of the tectonic plates on a worldwide basis, which produces horizontal movement and geographical relocation of all mountains and islands in microseconds. Just how can every island and mountain on the earth’s crust be moved to new locations? The answer is found in the realization that every mountain and island is firmly attached to the earth’s crust, anchored to a fixed set of latitudinal and longitudinal geographical location coordinates, which are measured in degrees, minutes, and seconds. Every mountain on this earth has a central peak set of geographical coordinates, and every island has a central focus set of location components. There is only one way that every island and mountain can be moved to a new location. The microseconds of the geographical coordinates must be changed. That is precisely what will happen when God begins to noticeably shift these massive tectonic pieces of the earth’s crust during the last three and on-half years of the tribulation period.
It is worth noting what is also produced along the tectonic plate borders in conjunction with the earthquakes. Over 90% of all volcanic eruptions occur along the peripheries of the tectonic plates to produce fire, brimstone, and smoke. This certainly helps to explain the latter portion of Revelation 6:12 – “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.” The great earthquake, which starts the initial worldwide movement of the plates, is also accompanied by widespread volcanic eruptions, whose smoke causes the sun to be darkened, and the moon to take on a blood-red color. As the eruptions continue up to the pouring of the last vial this ever accumulating volcanic smoke in the stratosphere will eventually cause the view of the heavenly bodies to depart from human eyes. The sun, moon, and stars will slowly disappear from view like the writing on a Hebrew scroll slowly disappears when it is gradually rolled together, as indicated in Revelation 6:14 – “And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.” (End Birth Pang Archive Extract)
Since I have long contended that the massive worldwide shifting of the earth’s tectonic plate structure would result in a shifting weight of the world’s crust and sea water during the tribulation period, and that this massive erratic shifting would cause the earth to reel to and fro in space like a drunkard hanging on a lamp post, I also feel it appropriate to include an extract from chapter 1 of “The Bottomless Pit, which lines up well with the single tsunami event in the East Indies. Tsunami will be repeatedly affecting all the shorelines of the world during the last three and a half years of the tribulation period, and their movement, coupled with the massive shift of the land masses, would upset the geomagnetic balance of the earth. All of this shifting of water and land masses would cause the earth to wobble enough on its axis to cause a slight change in its elliptical orbit around the sun. Isaiah 24:19,20 – The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. [20] The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
In Isaiah 24:19 the expression, “clean dissolved,” does not mean the earth melted. The literal meaning of the Hebrew word “parar” is “to break in pieces. It was translated as “clean dissolved” in the Authorized King James Version because any large object broken into smaller pieces would make the individual smaller pieces more difficult to see at a distance. In the KJV “parar” is translated as “break” 23 times, “divide 1 time, “break asunder” 1 time, and “clean dissolved” 1 time. Isaiah portrays an earth broken into smaller pieces of individual crust by great excessive movements of its outer crust. There are some 27 individual tectonic plates ranging from the huge Pacific plate to some less than 10 miles in diameter. By the time the tribulation period is finished there will be a significant increase in that number. Verse 20 describes the fantastic result of this great shifting of land and water – The earth will totter in space on its axis as though it had temporarily lost equilibrium, as does a drunkard during his time of intoxication. The Hebrew word “mulunah” is translated “a cottage,” which presents the picture of a man swinging in a hammock tied between two trees and, in this context, portrays the earth swinging gently in its orbit for a time. Because of a great redistribution of crustal weight, the earth will undergo a reversal of its geomagnetic poles. The close of verse 20 advises that it never be found exactly as it was before the great shaking of the tribulation period began. (End Extract from “The Bottomless Pit”)
