The Umayyad Mosque, also known as the Great Mosque of Damascus or formerly the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, located in the old city of Damascus, is one of the largest and oldest mosques in the world. It is considered the fourth-holiest place in Islam.

Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb (Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb), Kurdish, Selah’edînê Eyubî) (1137/1138 – March 4, 1193), better known in the Western world as Saladin, was a Kurdish Muslim, who became the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria, and founded the Ayyubid dynasty.[2][3][4] He led Muslim opposition to the Franks and other European Crusaders in the Levant. At the height of his power, his sultanate included Egypt, Syria, Mesopotamia, Hejaz, Yemen, and parts of North Africa.
Under his personal leadership, his forces defeated the Crusaders at the Battle of Hattin, leading the way to his re-capture of Palestine, which had been seized from the Fatimid Egyptians by the Crusaders 88 years earlier. As such, Saladin is a prominent figure in Kurdish, Arab, and Muslim culture. Muslim conquests also referred to as the Islamic conquests or Arab conquests, began with the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He established a new unified polity in the Arabian Peninsula which under the subsequent Rashidun (The Rightly Guided Caliphs) and Umayyad Caliphates saw a century of rapid expansion of Muslim power.
They grew well beyond the Arabian Peninsula in the form of a Muslim Empire with an area of influence that stretched from the borders of China and the Indian subcontinent, across Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Sicily, and the Iberian Peninsula, to the Pyrenees. Edward Gibbon writes in The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire:
“[Under the last of the Umayyad, the Arabian empire extended two hundred days’ journey from east to west, from the confines of Tartary and India to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Revelation 17:9 – And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
The great false religion woman and her offspring daughters in the latter days have added some of the evil pagan practices of the seven evil kingdoms upon which she rides, namely the Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Grecian, Roman, and Umayyad.
Revelation 17:10 – And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
The 5 groups of kings that had “fallen” when John wrote Revelation were the groupings of rulers over the Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, and Grecian Kingdoms.
Number 6 was the one that existed (is) when John wrote Revelation during the Roman Empire Period.
Number 7 was the Umayyad group of Kings which was “the other” that had not come when John wrote Revelation Its a line of kings that only continued a “short space” of 89 years from 661 to 750 AD. After the Muslim Conquest of Jerusalem in 637 AD the great Umayyad Caliph Abd el Malik Commissioned the building of the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount, and both were completed by 692 AD. He ruled over the Umayyad Caliphate from Damascus in Syria.
Number 8 will be the revival of the Umayyad Caliphate which will be formed and led by the man of sin, the Antichrist, after he drives Israel into the Negev Wilderness. The 7th and 8th are both Islamic Caliphs separated by more than 1260 years
Revelation 17:11-13,17 – And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition (destruction). [12] And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. [17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
Revelation 19:19,20 – And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. [20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
