Believe it or not, the current situation in the Middle East has aroused in me the need to issue a long narrative on it, because of recent articles on the confusing political situation that exists there. The article which led me to issue such a long narrative is buried at the end of this Blog.
The situation in the Middle East during the Annual pilgrimage made by those of the Islamic faith to Mecca is now arriving on the scene. The merging of their masses to Mecca is now beginning, and it will lead to much conversation among the different factions among them. This time of year is always a time
of great political confusion in the Middle East but I do not believe I have ever seen it worse than it is at this time. I have never seen as much political hypocrisy being practiced by all the nations of the world concerning the Middle East, both on a collective and individual basis, as has developed in the last ten years.
One of the worst cases of individual hypocrisy currently being practiced in the Middle East is being carried out by Syria, and the horror of it is that Israel is grasping at straws since the Hizbollah Conflict, and might grasp the false straw of peace Syria is holding out to her.
During my time in Vietnam it was well known that those who lied were not giving you the truth, the “straight skinny,” about a particular event. The Vietnamese classified such as “Number 10,” which meant you had hit rock bottom in their op
inion of you. Gil Hoffman is definitely not “Number 10,” because he gives you the “straight skinny” on Syria’s motivations in its sudden efforts to negotiate for peace with Israel.
His article in the Jerusalem Post, which follows our comments, is right on target.
Syria is “Number 10” because it is not giving the world the “straight skinny” on why it wants to “talkie-talkie” peace with Israel. Syria just wants to improve its international image after assassinating several of Lebanon’s leaders by appearing to be Mr.
Peaceful Nice Guy. Syria is planning to get Lebanon back under its thumb through Hizbollah with Iran’s help – They need Lebanon in order to be able to launch a more effective strategic Jihad against Israel in the future.
I must confess that my emotions on Israel are a mixed bag of feelings. I love Israel and part of me hates to see the biblical false peace come in, because I know what the word of God teaches is going to happen to her when it does, but my spirit rejoices in the horror of it because it knows her Messiah, who is my Messiah, will come to save her at the battle of Armageddon, and restore her to a much greater elevation than she has ever known. The following eight scriptures must be fulfilled in sequence. My guesstimate as to when the “Peace and safety” mindset will come into place is at some point in time between 2008 and 2012, but that it will come into place sooner or later is a done deal in prophecy. And the sequence of events that follow such a mindset are definitively outlined in the seven Scriptures following I Thessalonians 5:3,4. My heart bleeds for the coming tribulation period and causes a bitterness in my stomach, but my heart rejoices because I know Christ will return at the end of the three and one-half years with all his saints, and clean up the mess man has made since Adam passed on his carnal nature. It is like my spirit put a sweet taste in my mouth because I know my Lord is coming to straighten out this mess, and yet I have a bitter taste in my carnal belly, because I know what is coming on the earth in the last three and one-half years following the Jihad attack against Israel.
Follow the sequence of events from the time of “Peace and safety” to the time of tribulation, then through it to Messiah’s coming at Armageddon to deliver Israel, and then on into his Millennial Reign, as you read the series of Scriptures that follow.
I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Matthew 24:21,22 – For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the
beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. [22] And except those days should be shortened,
there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Zechariah 13:8,9 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. [9] And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
Jeremiah 30:7 – Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
Daniel 12:1 – And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
Ezekiel 39:23-29 – And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword. [24] According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
[25] Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name; [26] After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid. [27] When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; [28] Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. [29] Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.
Zechariah 14:8,9,16 – And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. [9] And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one. [16] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Isaiah 2:1-6 – The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. [2] And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. [3] And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. [4] And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. [5] O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.
The sweetest taste I ever had in my mouth was when I was first saved from Hell by hearing his word, and then learned from that same word he would never leave me nor forsake me, but would definitely keep me, and then take me to heaven when I died or the rapture occurred.
The stomach in Scripture is sometimes referred to as the seat of our emotions, and is translated as “bowels” when that is the case. The most bitter, sour, taste I ever experienced in my stomach, after I was saved, was in learning there was to be a horrific time of terror on the earth known as the great tribulation period. The most devastating, horrific, terrifying time of the tribulation period will occur after the sounding of the seventh trumpet by the seventh angel in Revelation. You will find God’s seven wrath vials poured out on this earth after the sounding of the seventh trumpet. I will not be on this earth when they are poured out, which gives me a sweet taste proceeding from my mouth to you that are saved, but a bitter taste in my belly for the billions that will be left behind to be destroyed because they morally destroyed the earth. When the saved are being judged in heavens for rewards or the lack of them, those left on earth will be suffering the wrath of God.
Revelation 10:7-10 – But in t he days of t
he voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. [8] And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. [9] And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. [10] And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
Revelation 11:15,18 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. [18] And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

FM: Syria Wants Talks More Than Peace

The confusion of Israeli diplomatic and intelligence officials on how to handle Syrian peace overtures continued on Tuesday when in a briefing with the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni questioned whether Syrian President Bashar Assad was truly interested in peace or merely in negotiations.
At the same briefing, Foreign Ministry diplomatic research department head Nimrod Barkan said that Syria was “interested in entering negotiations to alleviate international pressure on it.”
But Foreign Ministry officials said Barkan was not endorsing the view of Military Intelligence Research Division head Yossi Baidatz, who told Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee members on Monday that he believed Assad was sincere.
Mossad chief Meir Dagan told the same body the opposite last week, saying that the Syrian leader should not be taken seriously, because the country was preparing for war with Israel.
“Syria is sending signals it wants negotiations, and we are obligated to ask ourselves whether Assad wants only negotiations, or if he wants peace at the end of the process,” Livni told the committee. “The Syrians want to negotiate, because it helps their situation and aids their effort to overcome the international threats to them, but we have to ask ourselves what we would get at the end of a diplomatic process with them.”
Livni said Syria’s immediate interest was its fear of the international tribunal investigating the murder of former Lebanese President Rafik Hariri. She said the Syrians were worried that the tribunal would implicate top Syrian officials and harm the Syrian regime.
She added that Syria had no intention of abdicating its power over Leba

Regarding what Israel could achieve in talks with Syria, Livni said it would demand “a package deal” that would include disconnecting Syria from the axis of evil and its support for negative elements like Hamas and Hizbullah. She said that to her understanding, Assad wanted
negotiations, but it was not clear to her whether at the end of the process, it would be ready to supply the “peace package” that Israel wanted.
“The question of what we get in return is integral – not what territory we would give,” Lini said. “So before we enter negotiations, we must examine the situation from all its aspects, its dangers and what could be achieved at the end of the process.”
In what opposition MKs saw as criticism of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Livni said it was important that the Syrian issue be handled discretely and not publicly.
Barkan said he doubted that Syria would be willing to concede power in Lebanon, s
top supporting terrorist organizations or break their connection with Iran.
“Syria is part of a chain of radical countries, and those countries see Syria as the weak link of the chain, because they are connected due to their own political interests and not due to ideological reasons,” Barkan said.
Regarding the Palestinians, Livni said Israel needed to give Fatah a package of “socioeconomic options” that could be marketed to the Palestinians as an alternative to what Hamas was offering the Palestinian people in the upcoming election.
Regarding Iran, Livni predicted that the UN sanctions passed on Saturday would harm the regime of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The committee decided to endorse a proposal by committee chairman Tzahi Hanegbi to hold seven sessions a year with key government and military officials that would for the first time be open to the press.
