The Regime will eventually fall to the rebels, but is fiercely fighting to the end because they know the rebels will kill many of those who fought against them, particularly those of the ruling Muslim Alawite sect. Both sides know the toll taken by the victors on the losers will be a brutal massacre .
Assad had planned for all this long ago, and had an escape contingency, as I indicated 8 months ago in our January Blog, and repeated on our July 20 Blog, He may use chemical WMD against the rebels, but I doubt it, because a few countries would presently give him political sanctuary, but if he used chemical WMD I doubt if any country would accept him.
In Blogs we have issued the war began Assad has stated he would fight to the death in Syria, but most dictators say this, and most flee to a friendly country, run, or hide when the end approaches. I hope this will be the case with Assad. If he has the courage to do what he said, he may use his chemical and biological WMD.
My best hope is that he will be assassinated by his Syrian and foreign friends before he makes his decision.
Please remember my wife Emogine. They had to rush her back once again to Little Rock in her long history of surgeries since I began to pastor Dardanelle MBC 38 years ago. We appreciate all the prayers you have performed on her behalf.

Army ‘cleans’ away rebels
Published: July 22, 2012 – 3:00AM
THE Syrian military escorted journalists in armoured personnel carriers into Midan in the south of Damascus after saying that it had ”cleaned” the district of rebel fighters.
In Assakhane Square, one reporter saw three rebels sprawled lifeless alongside a pick-up truck mounted with a heavy machinegun.
The military said the square had been the site of fierce fighting, and thick black smoke still billowed from several apartments that had been completely destroyed.
The silence was broken only by the crackle of intermittent gunfire.
”There are still some snipers,” a soldier said. ”We will remove them.”
Rebel slogans were still scrawled across the walls of several buildings.
”Protect the revolutionary Midan! We will not kneel!”
In apartments that had been occupied by rebels, holes were gouged through interior walls so they could move from house to house, avoiding the dangers of the open street and snipers.
The smell of spent powder filled the air, and a minaret at the neighbourhood’s Al Majid mosque had been pierced by a shell.
At a nearby grocery stall, potatoes, tomatoes and onions rotted under the hot sun, and ransacked stores suggested traders had fled in panic with no time to even close their shops.
The facades of several buildings were riddled with bullets or had been shattered by shellfire.
There was no sign of any civilians in Midan, just some soldiers still wearing helmets and flak jackets as they lounged at a local barber’s shop.
One soldier said the elite Republican Guard led the assault on the neighbourhood traditionally popular for selling sweets during Ramadan.
State television had announced earlier on Friday that regime forces had ”cleaned” the Midan area.
One officer said on television that ”armed elements entered neighbourhoods and attacked the residents, who begged us to rescue them”.
An opposition activist said: ”The Free Syrian Army pulled out of Midan at dawn because of fierce bombardment.”

Navy task force preparing mass evacuations of Britons from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon
It will include helicopter carrier HMS Illustrious and amphibious ship HMS Bulwark

London: Britain’s Royal Navy is preparing contingency plans for a mass evacuation of British citizens from Syria and neighbouring countries. A substantial Navy task force will deploy to the eastern Mediterranean for large scale exercises after the Olympics but will have the capability to help civilians fleeing the growing violence.
It will include the helicopter carrier HMS Illustrious and the amphibious ship HMS Bulwark ferrying 45 Commando, Royal Marines. The force will carry out amphibious landings in Sardinia, Albania and Turkey then is likely to “loiter” off Cyprus, 160 kilometres from the Syrian mainland.
Navy planners said the fleet was a precautionary measure to evacuate British passport holders from across the Middle East. A Ministry of Defence source said: “There is no question at this stage of a combat role, our aim is purely to consider contingency plans to evacuate British nationals if there are ‘proxy conflicts’ in the Lebanon and Jordan.
“The worst case scenario would be terrorist attacks in Lebanon and Jordan if the Syrian government seeks to destabilise the entire region.” It is understood that special forces and diplomats have been in the region assessing the number of British passports holders who have fled across the border from Syria into Lebanon and Jordan and drawing up evacuation plans. More than 30,000 people have fled into Lebanon alone in the past two days, according to the United Nations. Senior officers have been briefed that there will be no direct intervention in Syria but there is a strong possibility of “redeployment”.
