PREPARATION TO THE SOUTH OF JACOB
The Palestinians should be prepared to attack Israel at some point in time between 2008 and 2012. Large quantities of anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons and missiles have been smuggled into the Gaza Strip from the Egyptian Sinai through some 15 tunnels. The tunnels interconnect into a maze of some 100 tunnel entrances under Gaza.

In a briefing to the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Tuesday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz said he believed the IDF must stay in the Philadelphi Corridor, explaining, “There is an underground city being dug in the Gaza Strip,” where in the past three days “IDF troops have uncovered at least one hundred tunnel openings in the Rafah area.”
But Halutz stressed that “no decision has been made” and that the army is examining options of how to best deal with the terror-tunnel threat.
A recent IDF intelligence report warned that the pace of smuggling by armed groups in Gaza, as well as the quality of weapons being imported, was increasing.
Halutz went on to tell committee members that each tunnel was around 1.5 kilometers in length.
The chief of staff repeated previous assessments, saying that Palestinian terrorist have learned their lessons from Hizbullah and were seeking to emulate it.
Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Tuesday during a tour of the Southern Command that Israel will continue operating in the Gaza Strip in order to stop terror organizations from further arming themselves, and to keep them from attacking Israeli citizens.
“We will not allow the Gaza Strip to turn into southern Lebanon and we will take action to prevent the strengthening of the terrorist organizations,” Peretz said.
However, a sweeping counter-terror operation, as recommended by commanders in the field, will most likely not be implemented in the near future because of public pressures.
Peretz added that he hoped that Egypt would step up to prevent weapons smuggling.
Early Tuesday morning, the IDF withdrew from the Philadelphi Route after a week-long operation there, during which troops uncovered at least 15 weapons smuggling tunnels running under the narrow strip along the Egyptian border.
During the operation, Palestinians attacked troops with anti-tank weapons, but the soldiers took no casualties.
One combat engineering soldier who took part in the search and demolition of tunnels near Rafah described resistance as light.
On Monday night, the IAF targeted two rocket launchers that were used to fire rockets at Sderot on Monday evening from Beit Hanoun in southern Gaza.

Upon taking over the IDF’s northern command from the Lebanon war commander, Monday, Oct. 23, the incoming OC Maj-Gen. Gad Eisenkott said tersely: We are keeping close watch on Hizballah’s rearmament. The refurbished fortifications, according to DEBKAfile’s military sources, are under cover.
Because Hizballah is not yet ready to openly challenge UNIFIL, their lookout points together with fresh supplies of rockets, ammo and electronic spying gear are hidden in village houses facing Israel. The UN peacekeeping and Lebanese army presence has not stopped Hizballah from systematically retaking and re-manning its old tunnel and fortified bunker locations in South Lebanon. They are designated “nature preserves” by the IDF. Nor, say our military sources, did they prevent Syria over last weekend smuggling across a first consignment of medium-range Fajr-3 (45km range) and Fajr-5 (up to 100 km range) rockets – the ones Hizballah used in the Lebanon War to blast in-depth Israeli targets: Haifa, Tiberias, Afula and the Hadera-Caesaria district. IDF intelligence estimates the consignment was small, designed to test Israeli military and UN responses. It was accompanied by a vigorous campaign launched by Hizballah’s friends in Beirut against Israel’s surveillance over-flights, thanks to which the consignment was discovered. These airborne cameras have also picked up quantities of rockets and launchers
of all types including the Iranian Zelzal waiting on the Syrian side of the border to be smuggled across to Hizballah.

Iraqi forces should take full control in next 12-18 months, says US Iraq commander Gen. George Casey

US ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad told a joint news conference in Baghdad that the Iraqi government had agreed to a timeline for progress on security and the economy, including changes to the constitution, disbanding militias and a new oil law.
Significant success in Iraq is possible, he said, in the “realistic timetable” of the coming 12 months despite the surging violence.
General Casey and Ambassador Khalizad both accused Iran and Syria of providing support to armed groups in Iraq and fomenting violence to prevent the US succeeding in stabilizing Iraq. They have had some success, said Khalilzad, but the US will not acquiesce but redouble its efforts to succeed. Casey said those efforts now focus on making Baghdad safe, keeping up the pressure
on al Qaeda in the west and the north, targeting the sectarian death squads and improving protection for US troops. Resolution of the militia issue required an integrated US-Iraqi military effort which is going ahead, said the US Iraq commander.

PROPHECY UPDATE NUMBER 40

Jeremiah 30:7 – Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
Jacob, as used here, refers to all the descendants of the man whom God gave the new name of Israel – the people we know today as the nation of Israel. I believe the events, now occurring in the Middle East, are the forerunners of a process whereby more and more pressure will be put on Israel. A peace, which at first will appear to be genuine, will, after a brief period of time, be dramatically broken by a vicious, preplanned blitzkrieg attack from the north, led by Syria and a confederation of Islamic nations. Jeremiah states prophetically: “Alas for that day is great, so that none is like it.” Christ also spoke of it in Matthew 24:21 as he forecast: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” This great time of worldwide judgment will be an act of God’s righteous judgment upon sinful mankind. Once before, mankind reached a state of such great ungodliness that God destroyed him. He destroyed mankind by using the earth to flood itself with its own water supply. This act of God upon sinful mankind is recorded in the sixth chapter of Genesis.
Genesis 6:11-13 – The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. [12] And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. [13] And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
God destroyed mankind “with the earth” by use of the water he created upon it and under it. Christ indicates that just before His Second Coming mankind will once again have reached a godless state similar to that attained before the flood. He states this plainly in Luke 17:26 — “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.”
God promised mankind he would never again flood the earth, but he made no such promise concerning once again using the earth to destroy mankind “with the earth.” In fact He has very clearly indicated that His next judgment upon sinful mankind will be by fire. Malachi predicts this forthcoming judgment.
Malachi 4:1 – For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Just as God drew water from within His own earthly creation to destroy sinful mankind in the days of Noah, so will he draw fire from within his earth to destroy corrupt man in the days of the Son of man. Malachi very clearly indicates that God will use fire as from a great oven.
God will use His own earth to destroy mankind by fire. Here are five of the many Scriptures that foretell a fantastic shaking of the crust and internal structure of the earth.
It is this shaking that will produce a massive movement of the earth’s tectonic structure and produce a holocaust of fire around the peripheries of their boundaries.
Isaiah 13:13 – Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
Haggai 2:6,7 – For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; [7] And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.
Isaiah 24:1 – Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
Isaiah 24:5,6 – The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. [6] Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
Isaiah 29:6 – Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.
These Scriptures picture an earth whose external and internal components have been so shifted that the astronomical balance and orbit of the earth have been dramatically changed.
This composite picture, outlined by these Scriptures, presents a world so fantastically shaken that it is almost beyond human understanding to grasp the full significance of the holocaust. It is, however, as Daniel indicated, possible in these last days to better understand certain prophetic utterances that will affect only the final generation.
