Matthew 23:37-39 – O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! [38] Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
[39] For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Because Israel rejected her Messiah, her Temple Mount was first made spiritually desolate at his crucifixion, and then physically desolate at the end of his crucifixion generation. Soon Christ is coming again to fulfill Matthew 23:39. The Jerusalem Post article by Etgar Lefkovits, which follows, made me think of the last two destructions of the Temple. I am convinced that the current conflict along Israel’s northern border is setting the stage for the creation of a second DMZ and, that it is quite likely, as I have stated in numerous previous releases, three and one-half years of great tribulation is quite likely to break out along the DMZ at some point in time between 2008 and 1012.

Temple Mount closed for Tisha Be’av

Citing intelligence alerts of possible violence, Jerusalem police announced Wednesday that the Temple Mount will be closed to non-Muslim visitors on Thursday, as the nation marks Tisha Be’av and the destruction of the biblical Jewish temples.
The largely expected police decision to shut the Mount to Jews and Christians on the fast day came just two days after the the High Court of Justice ruled that members of the Temple Mount Faithful – with the exception of the group’s leader, Gershon Salomon – could enter the site on Tisha Be’av if it is open to visitors.
The decision to shut the Mount to visitors, which was made by Jerusalem police chief Cmdr.
Ilan Franco, followed an amalgamation of intelligence information that thousands of Muslims were planning to flock to the site to “protect” it from Jews who were planning to visit on Tisha Be’av at the urging of “extremist” Jewish groups, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
Muslim men younger than 45 will also be barred from entering the compound for the next 48 hours.
In the past, the site has been repeatedly closed down to non-Muslim visitors on Tisha Be’av due to concern over the outbreak of violence, drawing the wrath of Israeli rightists who accuse police of “capitulating” to Arab threats.
Last year, the Temple Mount was shut on Tisha Be’av on the eve of the pullout from the Gaza Strip.

Luke 21:28 – And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
The following article from the Israel National News, carrying quotes from Ahmadinehad and the deceased Ayatollah Khomeini, blends in well with the anticipated timing of our ‘redemption drawing nigh.’
Some 1976 years ago Jesus indicated, when the last generation began to see certain events unfurl, our redemption from the current Middle East mess could be classified as “draweth nigh,” implying a lot of things had to happen before it actually occurred.
Some 25 years ago, Iran’s first dictator of the fundamentalist Islamic Republic, the Ayatollah Khomeini, stated concerning Israel, ‘This regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time, which implied it was not going to happen in the twentieth century.’
Now, Iran’s latest dictator, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has said: ‘All the conditions for the removal of the Zionist regime are at hand.’
I believe in the midst of all this uncertainty and turmoil, now affecting the entire Middle East, all three statements mirror a pattern that will lead into the last three and one half years of the tribulation period. My guesstimate is that the attack from the north, which begins it, will occur at some point in time between 2008 and 2012. It will begin as this current conflict began, but on the day it occurs there will be no U.S. forces left in Iraq, and Israel will find a quite different type of Islamic forces waiting for them on the opposite side of the DMZ, along the length of her northern border.
They will be highly motivated, well trained Arab forces equipped with the modern elements of convention warfare. Israel will be driven into the Negev Wilderness, where she will remain until she break outs some three and one-half years later, and drives north at the great battle of Armageddon.

Ahmadinejad: Conditions for Removal of Israel Are at Hand

Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, clearing up any ambiguity in previous calls to “wipe Israel off the map,” now used an Arabic word for the removal of body hair to describe his plans for Israel.
“All the conditions for the removal of the Zionist regime are at hand,” Ahmadinejad told an Arab Conference of Iraqi Neighbors meeting Saturday. For the first time, he employed the Arabic word ezaleh, which is used to describe the irreversible removal of body hairs or a woman’s virginity.
“Nations in the region will be more furious every day. It won’t take long before the wrath of the people turns into a terrible explosion that will wipe the Zionist entity off the map,” Ahmadinejad told the foreign ministers of Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey, Bahrain and Egypt. The heads of the Arab League and
the Islamic Conference were also present, in addition to a special United Nations representative.
None of the foreign ministers present including Jordan, Egypt or Turkey – commonly regarded as Israel’s friends in the Arab/Muslim world – objected to the call for annihilation. Instead, the following statement was issued: “The Arab foreign ministers participating in today’s Tehran meeting expressed their strong condemnation of this continuing and increasing aggression against the Palestinian people.”
The Iranian president went on to blame all of the region’s troubles on the Jewish state.
“”The basic problem in the Islamic world is the existence of the Zionist regime, and the Islamic world and the region must mobilize to remove this problem. It is a usurper that our enemies made and imposed on the Muslim world, a regime that prevented the progress of the region’s nations, a regime that all Muslims must join hands in isolating worldwide.”
He ended with a call on all nations to cease their support of Israel. “[All nations] should realize that their support for the illegitimate, usurper, Zionist regime is a mistake. The waves of fury of Muslim nations will not be confined within the boundaries of the region, and the people who close their ears to the cries of the Palestinians and blindly support this regime will be responsible for the consequences.” “I tell them to dissociate themselves or face the terrible consequences.”
Since Ahmadinejad’s call to “wipe Israel off the map” last October, some academics have claimed the Iranian leader was mistranslated or misunderstood.
“Ahmadinejad did not say he was going to wipe Israel off the map, because no such idiom exists in Persian,” left-wing University of Michigan professor Juan Cole told the New York Times. “He did say he hoped its regime, i.e., a Jewish-Zionist state occupying Jerusalem, would collapse…Since Iran has not attacked another country aggressively for over a century, I smell the whiff of war propaganda.”
Jonathan Steele of the British Guardian newspaper also told the Time: “The Iranian president was quoting an ancient statement by Iran’s first Islamist leader, the late Ayatollah Khomeini, who said, ‘this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time,’ just as the shah’s regime in Iran had vanished. He was not making a military threat. He was calling for an end to the occupation of Jerusalem at some point in
the future.
The ‘page of time’ phrase suggests he did not expect it to happen soon.”
Neither of the two had responded to Ahmadinejad’s latest clarification and call to action, which were translated and distributed by the Iranian state-run IRNA news agency.
The Iranian leader’s threats are particularly significant as the Islamic Republic continues to pursue nuclear technology and world bodies continue to pursue diplomatic means of inducing Iran to give up its nuclear
aspirations.
