THERE IS NO QUESTION WE ARE IN THE LAST DAYS PERILOUS TIMES!
II Timothy 3:1 – This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
It is difficult for me to write about what is happening in Wisconsin because I have always been a strong supporter of both unions and teachers, having been personally and directly involved with both.
As a teenager my first job was selling newspapers after school on the street after school in Conway, Arkansas. When school was out I worked at carnivals that came to Batesville and as a short order cook on weekends at an old livestock auction barn at the end of main street. I worked for Kroger after school when I came home from Batesville
after the summers ended to go to school wherever Mom was working, and remained there until the next May when school let out. After High School I went to work full time for Kroger and was working there when the Korean War broke out. I could not afford to go to college, and I had no desire to be in the Marines, Army, or Navy, so when myself and two buddies knew our draft notices were about to arrive, we rushed down and enlisted in the Air Force.
I am a great admirer of the Marines and Army, but the three of us were natural born cowards, and had no desire of land combat. Neither did we want to be seasick in the navy. We were three 19 year old kids who did not know their left foot from their right. They got out at the end of their first tours, but I grew to love the Air Force. They kept sending me to one Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) after another, and I loved it because
I began to appreciate all those teachers I had disappointed. I advanced rapidly in rank and, when I felt I could support a wife, I married Emogine Vaughn in Georgia. It was one of the happiest times of my life. I cannot describe what a wonderful wife she has been to me for 56 years, in spite of all my many absences in the service, then going all over the U.S. and the world doing a geological exposition of the Second Coming of Christ.
When I went to work full time after High School for Kroger in 1950 they were against the Union, and I only made 60 cents an hour. When the union representatives begin to visit Kroger employees to organize a local retail clerks union, a lot of the employees were afraid of joining the union because they thought Kroger would fire them if they did. I was one of them, but I was young and knew I could find another job. It was indeed a tough struggle. Jerry Chambers w as the head of it, and I w
as elected as Doorman to stop undesirables from coming in. It took a long time, but it began to grow and our wages finally reached what I considered a fair wage. I left Krogers to join the USAF in 1951 and, when I retired from the USAF-NSA, would you believe it, I presented it to Krogers in 1971 and they gave me back my old job, which I kept until I got a better paying job in the Post Office, where they gave me a job where I could “pig-tale” the days undelivered mail in the afternoon, and run the collection of mail boxes at night. I milked the GI Bill for six years of Seminary and University Education, and after that paid for the rest on my retirement pay, a pastor’s salary of 240 dollars per month after 1974, salary as a janitor at a very large Episcopalian Church with a school and gymnasium, and salary as the night admissionst at Danville County Hospital, It takes a lot of sweat and study to get an education, raise seven kids, and pastor a church.
After I finished obtaining all my degrees, I continued to pastor the church, teach school, and drive a school bus. After writing my first two published books, as people began to read them, I had to resign as a teacher from Dardanelle High School. There was no way I could do my Biblical geological lectures on the road and continue in the teaching profession. I loved teaching in the public school system, and tried at first to teach school during the day, then drive to where I was preaching a one week prophecy revival at churches within 100 miles, but I knew God wanted me to do them, and I finally became so physically exhausted, I limited myself to be pastor to the church, and a road evangelist. I did these lectures on the road from 1978 to 2005, doing them in more than 700 Churches, Colleges, and Universities, as well as in 21 Seminaries. I had a five bypass heart surgery in 2005 and am no longer able to do meetings more than 100 miles distant from Dardanelle.
My motive in giving you this pile of information about my past life has only one purpose!
It was to convince you I understand teachers and the Teacher’s Unions. I have been a teacher and a member of the Teacher’s Union. I was a loyal member of the Retail Clerks Union and helped organize the first one in Little Rock.
I do understand the importance for our children to have good teachers.
I do understand the importance of having good unions.
While I was away in the USAF unions began to change, but I don’t really blame them. They changed because their members would not pay their dues unless it gave them large increases in pay and/or benefits. So year after year unions demanded them and unions could not financially continue to function unless they obtained them. With each new raise or benefit the prices rose a little afterwards for goods and food, and each year prices continued to rise. Bad teachers are hurting this country, and they cry the loudest when they fear losing even a small part of their inflated benefits.
I knew the real original purpose, and once I had s livable salary and good benefits I never was in favor of never ending increases. I fought for the unions because they were formed to prevent workers and teachers from being paid substandard wages and no benefits, and I always paid my union dues whether they got large wage or benefit increases.
Tenure of teachers is slowly destroying the capabilities of our educational system. It continues to slowly trickle bad teachers among the vast majority of good teachers. Most of the teachers coming into the system are good dedicated men and woman, as are most of the people already in the system, but the number of bad teachers is growing because they are able to remain in the system by guaranteed tenure.
I was never afraid of being fired. It is difficult to get rid of a bad teacher who has tenure.
Teachers have always been among the most important part of the American Society, and yet they were among the lowest paid when I entered service. After 50 years of collective bargaining that is no longer true. Now we are heading for real economic chaos – We have now exceeded our national ability to pay increasing teacher salaries by collective bargaining.
WE ARE OUT OF “REAL” MONEY. It has to stop until we get through this mess or the Lord comes. I support the Governor of Wisconsin in his actions. I do not believe he is trying to destroy the Unions. He is trying to survive the current economic deficit.
IF THE UNIONS AND TEACHERS, BACKED BY OBAMA AND DEMOCRATS, WIN THIS BATTLE, IT WILL LEAD TO GOVERNMENT BAILOUTS OF THE STATES, MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROL, AND THE END OF AMERICA AS WE HAVE KNOWN IT. I LOVE UNIONS AND TEACHERS, BUT IF THEY WIN THEY ARE SETTING THE STAGE TO EVENTUALLY CUT THEIR OWN THROATS IN THE FUTURE, AS WELL AS THE REST OF AMERICA.
READ YOUR NEWSPAPERS, LISTEN TO THE WORLDWIDE PERIL ON ALL MEDIA SOURCES. WHATEVER YOU INTEND TO ABOUT THE LORD OR FOR THE LORD, YOU DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME TO DO IT! MANKIND HAS BEEN KICKING THAT DECISION ON DOWN THE ROAD SINCE JESUS WAS CRUCIFIED FOR ITS SINS. SOON THERE WON’T BE A CAN TO KICK ANYMORE. GOD IS NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULED PERISH, BUT THE AGE OF THE GENTILES WILL SOON CLOSE, AND MANKIND IS NOW SCOFFING MORE THAN AT ANYTIME IN THE PAST.
II Peter 3:1-9 – This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: [2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: [3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: [6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: [7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. [8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. [9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
PAUL DESCRIBED WHAT MEN AND WOMEN NEED TO DO TO BE SAVED!
Acts 20:20,21 – And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, [21] Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:17 – So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:9,10 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13 – For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
