WILL CHINA BE ABLE, ALONG WITH RUSSIA, TO GET HAMAS TO TEMPORARILY DECEIVE ISRAEL FOR A FUTURE JIHAD BY ISLAMIC
FORCES?

It would be very interesting if China and Russia were able to convince Hamas that the best way to defeat Israel is by deceit.
There must be at least some element of surprise in order for Islamic forces to pull it off. It is very interesting that at the same time China is inviting the Hamas representatives to visit China, Hamas leaked to the press that it might be willing to recognize Israel and negotiate with her. The articles which follow from Reuters and the Taiwan China Post were extracted from the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs Daily Alert, while the third article came from the Jerusalem Post.

China Urges Hamas to Recognize Israel
China on Tuesday urged Hamas, an Islamic militant group sworn to Israel’s destruction, to recognize the Jewish state and return to peace talks.
Zhai Jun, director-general of West Asian and North African Affairs of China’s Foreign Ministry, told reporters: “Our minister Li (Zhaoxing) says democracy is a beautiful mother which gives birth to an ugly child.
We don’t necessarily agree with Hamas policies, but we respect the people’s choice. On this basis, we can urge the Hamas government to respect agreements previously signed with Israel, to recognize Israel, and to return to talks.” (Reuters)

China Invites Hamas Foreign Minister
China said Wednesday it will host the foreign minister of the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority. Mahmoud Zahar is among 23 ministers from Arab states and entities invited to Beijing late this month for a conclave on China-Arab relations, said Zhai Jun of the Chinese foreign ministry.

Hamas Considering Talks with Israel
JPost.com Staff, THE JERUSALEM POST
May 17, 2006
Hamas sources revealed on Wednesday that the organization was considering conducting diplomatic talks with Israel in order to remove the international pressure that was placed on the Palestinian Authority government.
However, the sources stipulated,
the talks would not represent a recognition of the State of Israel, Israel Radio reported.
Other options that Hamas was reportedly exploring recently included establishing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.
PA cabinet spokesman Ghazi Hamad said that Hamas was not rejecting talks with Israel outright, but was deliberating over whether it would be of any benefit to it.
He added that Hamas preferred to reach a permanent agreement, rather than a gradual one.
The apparent steps towards moderation may have been the result of tremendous international pressure in the form of blocking the flow of money directly to the PA government.
American sources have assessed on Wednesday that the transfer of funds would be renewed, the PA government would collapse within three months.
The London-based Al-Hayat quoted the sources as saying that not only the United States, but also the European Union, Egypt, Jordan and others have committed to halting the flow of money to the PA.
Even some Palestinian banks reportedly feared that the US would cut off business ties with them.

It seems most unlikely that Israel, after all these years of Hamas killing its citizens, would ever trust Hamas.
The only way I could ever possibly see Israel abandoning the fence and signing a peace agreement with the Hamas Palestinian Authority, would be if the Israel Knesset fell apart and a very liberal Labor Party government was elected, which I simply do not believe will happen.
