Christ tabernacled as Messiah in his earthly ministry for more than three years. The Greek word for tabernacle or tent is translated as “DWELT” in John 1:14.
John 1:14 – And the Word was made flesh, and DWELT among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
But he was only allowed to tabernacle as Messiah with Israel for a little more than three years before they cut him off. In so doing they cut off the Shepherd of Israel, and he gave them up by declaring their temple worship desolate,
but promised to return as their shepherd in the future.
Matthew 23:37-39 – O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! [38] Behold, your house is left unto
you desolate.
[39] For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Micah 5:3 – Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
Soon she will travail as a woman with birth pangs for a period of 1260 days, but will be saved at the end of it at Armageddon when their Shepherd returns with those who have believed in him. He will break the yoke of the antichrist, and restore Israel as his people in their own land.
He will be a “plant of renown.” And, as that plant, he will feed his flock as their shepherd.
What Messiah, the Son of God through David, will feed them is spiritual food. He is the “tender plant” of Isaiah 53:2 that is the “plant of renown” in Ezekiel 34:29, and the food from his person is spiritual, not physical.
Jeremiah 30:7-9 – Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. [8] For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: [9] But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.
Micah 5:4 – And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
Ezekiel 34:23-29 – And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.
[24] And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it. [25] And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.
[26] And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. [27] And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the Lord, when
I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. [28] And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid. [29] And I will raise up for them A PLANT OF RENOWN, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the l
and, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.
Isaiah 53:1,2 – Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? [2] For HE shall grow up before him as a TENDER PLANT, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Isaiah 53:6 – All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Ezekiel 34:30,31 – Thus shall they know that I the Lord their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord God.
[31] And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God.
John 10:14-16 – I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
[15] As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. [16] And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
John 5:24,40 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that HEARETH MY word, and BELIEVETH ON him that sent me, HATH everlasting life, and SHALL NOT come into condemnation; but IS PASSED from death unto life.
[40] And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
