In the seventies, I was told I was crazy when I predicted that one day oil would control
the dollar, and that the 10 toes of Daniel 2 were not European nations that would eventually attack Israel, but Islamic nations out of the southern flank of the old Roman Empire. In the first edition of my first book, “Tectonic Chaos,” thirty years ago, I wrote the following paragraph:
“The ten horns of Revelation 13:1 are Arab nations who will soon form the nucleus of the seventh kingdom, and the ten crowns
are the kings that will rule them.
For years we have pictured the typical Arab as a scrawny little fellow on a camel in the desert with a comic expression on his face.
This viewpoint is quickly changing. Oil is slowly replacing the dollar in international importance – and soon 10 Arab nations will have gained economic control of much of earth’s wealth. We will not try to stop them because of the Soviet Union – and the Soviet Union will try to stop them because of us and China. The world power block will block itself as ten Arab nations prosper in their midst.”

Oil Props Up the Dollar
“Wall Street is still optimistic that the U.S. dollar will remain strong propped up by rising interest rates. But there is something else that is also helping to prop up the buck. That “something” is higher oil prices. Since oil is priced in dollars, higher oil prices require more dollars to buy oil. It is the threat of pricing oil in euros that poses the greatest risk to the dollar longer-term. While higher interest rates in the U.S. may make the dollar more attractive, the fact that oil is denominated in
dollars also helps to support the dollar. Remove the prop of petrodollar pricing and higher interest rates and the dollar is toast—something to think about, if you’re a dollar bull.”

I will confess that even though I did not set a time for the present battle between oil and
the dollar to reach its current condition, in 1976 I did expect it would reach where it is today in the nineties, so it took a longer period of time to materialize than I expected.
I also made the statement, which follows, in the first edition of “Tectonic Chaos.”
“The ten horns are ten Arab nations who are currently receiving great economic power as an OPEC oil block. They are rapidly becoming a United Arab Kingdom. All ten of these Arab nations were once a part of the vast Roman Empire.
They will, by sudden great economic growth, very quickly gain the scientific expertise of the world’s great powers – they will rise as a revived empire out of the ashes of the old Roman Empire.”
And, sure enough, the Arab nations have used their oil revenues to buy all sorts of military expertise from Russia, China, the European Union nations, and Korea. And we now have an oil rich dictator in South America who hates us and wants to build a nuclear weapon.
Believe me, if you are still holding to the teaching that the ten toes of Daniel 2 are European, and not Islamic, I am not your enemy, nor do I believe you to be mine, nor am I some egotistical maniac that is waving his finger at you and shouting “you are wrong.” But I am hoping you will consider what is going on in the inability of the European Union to unite in solidarity on many subjects and issues alive on the world stage today. I also hope you will compare the EU spirit with the growing unity of the spirit of Islamic Jihad that is sweeping through one-fifth of the world’s population. The ten toes of Daniel 2 being European became popular when the book, “The Late Great Planet Earth,’” was published in the middle of the twentieth century.
It has not produced the kind of European Union it predicted we would have today. I am encouraging those who have taught for many years that the countries making up the ten toes would be European, to reconsider their position.
I constantly reconsider what I believe concerning them being Islamic nations, and am prepared to eat a ton of crow if I am wrong, but in all my reviews
of what I teach on this subject, based on what has happened in the Middle East and Europe over the past 30 years, I find growing evidence they will be Arab, not European nations.
