JESUS TELLS US OF A REST AT SALVATION AND OF A REST IF WE LET HIM TEACH US! Part 6
THE REST WE RECEIVE AT SALVATION
Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Romans 8:16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
There is an instantaneous relief of rest we receive when we finally come to him to save us.
THE REST WE RECEIVE AS HE TEACHES US
Matthew 11:29
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of (from) me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
THE FIRST THING HE TEACHES US IS THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER IN HIM. THIS FREES US REST FROM FEAR WE CAN LOSE HIS GIFT OF SALVATION BY GRACE.
John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
THEN JESUS BEGINS TO TEACH US THINGS TO GIVE US REST IN UNDERSTANDING OUR ASSIGNMENTS IN THIS PRESENT LIFE.
I Timothy 3:14,15
These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: [15] But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
I Timothy 2:7-15
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. [8] I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. [9] In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;[10] But (which be-cometh women professing godliness) with good works. [11] Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. [12] But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. [13] For Adam was first formed, then Eve. [14] And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. [15] Not-withstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, IF they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
II Timothy 1:4.5
Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; [5] When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
Romans 1:17
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
