Iraq Developing Contingency Plan for Quick U.S. Force Withdrawal!
May 27, 2007

Iraq is formulating a contingency plan in the eventuality of a sudden withdrawal by American forces from Iraq.
I do not expect a major Middle East War until American troops are out of Iraq.
Nor do I expect one to begin until Iran has a deliverable nuclear warhead for its Shihab Missile Series.
If the Iranian nuclear facilities are damaged by an air attack prior to Iran developing nuclear warheads, then a major Middle East War is likely to occur before Iran develops such weaponry.
The two articles which follow do seem to favor my oft announced guess as to the most reasonable time for a major Middle East War to begin.

IRAQ PREPARES FOR RAPID U.S. PULLOUT
BAGHDAD [MENL] — Iraq has been drafting a plan to maintain security in case of a rapid U.S. military withdrawal.
The Defense Ministry has led a government effort to draft contingencies in response to a U.S. military pullout over the next year.
Officials said the plan involves the Interior Ministry as well as the office of Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki.
“The army plans on the basis of a worst case scenario so as not to allow any security vacuum,” Defense Minister Abdul Qader Al Obeidi said.
“There are meetings with political leaders on how we can deal with a sudden pullout.”
Al Obeidi’s remarks on Monday marked the first time an Iraqi minister reported preparations for a rapid U.S. withdrawal from the country.
Officials said the statement reflected an assessment by the Baghdad government that the Bush administration was likely to begin a pullout from Iraq by 2008.

Latest Estimate for Time of Iraq development of Nuclear Weapon!

Developments in the Middle East, since I first made my guesstimate of a Major War breaking out at some point in time after 2007, but prior to 2013, do make it look better and better as a reasonable estimate, as both these articles seem to bear out.

UN Official: Iran Bomb Possible by 2010
Bob Drogin
The head of the UN nuclear inspection agency warned for the first time Thursday that Iran probably can enrich enough uranium to build a nuclear bomb in three to eight years.
Mohamed ElBaradei, director of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, gave his assessment a day after a strongly worded IAEA report cautioned that Tehran had reduced its cooperation with UN inspectors while sharply accelerating its uranium enrichment efforts.
