A PROPHETIC BATTLE FOR LEBANON

In order for a successful Jihad attack by the forces of Islam to have a chance of victory against Israel, the Hizbullah, Syria, and Iran must have control of the Lebanese government. The ungodly assassinations of several Lebanese leaders opposed to Syrian influence gives testimony to the determination of Islam to take over rule of Lebanon. The two articles which follow the Scriptures describe the current struggle for control in Lebanon.
I have long believed Lebanon to be one of the ten end time horns on the fourth beast in Daniel, specifically one of the three governments plucked up by the roots by the little horn antichrist of Daniel 7. I have taught for more than 30 years Lebanon’s government (king) will eventually fall to the forces of the Islamic antichrist, after which the antichrist and his Islamic forces would eventually attack the saints (Israelites represented “the saints” in Daniel’s day). I have taught he would initially prevail against Israel, driving her into the Negev Wilderness for some three and one-half years, where she would remain for some 1260 days (Three and one-half prophetic years). After some 1260 days, Israel will charge out of the Negev, driving all the way north to Hamath and the coastline
of the Mediterranean in Syria, west to the River of Egypt, and east to the Euphrates River. The Second Advent of their Messiah at the end of the Tribulation Period will enable Israel to conquer the land grant God gave to Jacob through Abraham. Daniel 7:8 – I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
Daniel 7:20-22 – And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. [21] I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; [22] Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
Daniel 7:24-27 – And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. [25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. [26] But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. [27] And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions
shall serve and obey him.
Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Micah 5:6 – And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within
our borders.
Genesis 15:18 – In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Ezekiel 47:17 – And the border from the sea shall be Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side.
Ezekiel 47:19 – And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.
Micah 5:7 – And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
Zechariah 14:8,9 – And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
[9] And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

Rice tells Syria not to meddle in Lebanon
The Star Online
November 4, 2007
ISTANBUL (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Saturday she delivered a firm message to Syria’s foreign minister not to interfere in Lebanon’s election process, telling him the world was watching.
Rice held a rare meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem on the sidelines of an Iraq conference and later drew up a statement along with France and others that urged Damascus not to meddle in Lebanon’s political process.
“I spoke to him quite firmly about Lebanon. I made very clear that everybody was watching, that it was expected that Syria was going to adhere to its international obligations not to interfere, to allow Lebanon to continue to have a constitutional process for the selection of a president,” Rice told reporters traveling with her.
“It was also the expectation of everyone that there would be no intimidation and interference,” she added, speaking en route to Jerusalem after a two-day trip to Turkey.
The United States and France, Lebanon’s former colonial power, have led international criticism of what they call Syria’s constant meddling in its neighbour’s affairs. Syria denies the accusations.
Rice also discussed the Lebanon crisis at a meeting with the foreign ministers of France, Saudi Arabia and several other Arab countries on the sidelines of the Iraq meeting.
Earlier, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said he had emphasised to Moualem in bilateral talks in Istanbul the importance of non-interference in Lebanon by outsiders.
“I warned Syria of the imperative need to allow the presidential election process to go ahead according to the constitution … without any external interference,” Kouchner told reporters.
“A political vacuum in Lebanon serves the interests of neither Syria nor of the region.”
Kouchner said Moualem had signalled Damascus would be ready to open full diplomatic relations with Lebanon on certain conditions. “I am doubtful… There’s a little drop of optimism in an ocean of pessimism,” Kouchner said.
Lebanon’s presidential election has been postponed until Nov. 12 to allow more time for rival pro- and anti-Syrian groups
to agree on a compromise candidate to be elected by parliament to replace pro-Syrian president Emile Lahoud whose term expires on Nov. 23.
Agreement on a new president is regarded as vital to resolving Lebanon’s most serious political crisis since the 1975-1990 civil war. It pits the Western-backed, anti-Syrian government against the opposition, led by pro-Syrian Hezbollah.

Syria and US warn each other not to interfere in Lebanon election
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
November 4, 2007
DAMASCUS, Syria – The U.S. and Syria sparred over Lebanon, warning each other not to interfere in the country’ s upcoming pre
sidential election.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had a rare meeting Saturday with her Syrian counterpart, Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, on the sidelines of a conference on Iraq in Istanbul, Turkey.
She repeated U.S. demands that Syria steer clear of Lebanon’s internal politics.
“I made quite clear that … it was expected that Syria was going to adhere to its international obligations not to interfere, to allow Lebanon to have a constitutional process for the … election of a president, and that it was also the expectation of everyone that there would be no intimidation,” Rice told reporters after leaving the conference.
In response, al-Moallem said Syria supported Lebanese attempts to elect a new president without foreign interference, according to the official news agency SANA.
Despite marathon discussions between pro-government and opposition leaders in the parliament, the two groups have made no headway in electing a new president to prevent a power vacuum or the formation of two rival administrations.
With time running out, the election has become a showdown between Iran and Syria, who back the opposition, and the United States and its European allies, who support the parliamentary majority and Prime Minister Fuad Saniora’s government. The U.S. accuses Syria and Iran of interfering in Lebanese affairs and backing attempts to topple Saniora.
Syria dominated its smaller neighbour for nearly 30 years before it was forced by international pressure to withdraw its tens of thousands of troops from Lebanon in 2005.
Parliament is scheduled to make another attempt to elect a president on Nov.
12, but as with the two previous attempts in September and October, the government and the opposition have been unable to reach a compromise ahead of the session.
Failure to pick a leader to replace pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud, whose term expires Nov.
24, could throw the country into further political chaos.
SANA quoted al-Moallem as saying that “any attempt to tailor make the new president will be considered an interference in the domestic affairs of Lebanon,” an apparent reference to comments Rice made Thursday outlining U.S. and European requirements for the next Lebanese leader.
Rice said Lebanon’s next president must be committed to constitutional order, support U.N. Security Council resolutions aimed at ensuring the country’s sovereignty, and commit to seeing through a tribunal for the suspects in
the 2005 killing of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Syria was widely blamed for the assassination but denied it.
Syria’s state-run Tishrin newspaper explicitly criticized Rice for these statements earlier Saturday.
“Condoleezza Rice speaks about Lebanon as if it is an American state,” said the paper, which reflects government thinking. “The immoral and blunt U.S. interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs has been clearly demonstrated,” it added.
