Psalm 2:7-9 – I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. [8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. [9] Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

Isaiah 11:1,4,9-14 runs the gauntlet from the time of his first arrival in a manger in Bethlehem to his smiting the earth with the rod of his mouth at his Second Advent to his bringing in the peace of his millennial reign.

ISAIAH 11:1,4,9-14 – And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: [4] But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. [9] They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

[10] And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his REST shall be glorious.

Matthew 11:29 – Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find REST unto your souls.

John 14:1-3 – Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. [2] In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
II Thessalonians 1:7-9 – And to you who are troubled REST with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, [8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: [9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Hebrews 4:9,10 – There remaineth therefore a REST to the people of God. [10] For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

At the start of the millennial reign of Christ, the final great gathering of the surviving Jews from the great tribulation period will be initiated. All surviving Jews will return to Israel.

The word “ensign” in Isaiah 11:10 in context means: “to lift up a standard, a banner, for the purpose of gathering the people together.” Christ the Messiah will be that banner which draws all Jews back to Israel, and for a thousand years the message of him will be carried to the Gentile nations seeking him.

ISAIAH 11:10,11 – And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. [11] And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again

the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

Ezekiel and many of the other prophets speak of this return to Israel after the Second Advent, and describe the glory God’s blessings to restored Israel.

Ezekiel 39:25,26 – Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name; [26] After that they have borne their sha me, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against

me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.

ISAIAH 11:12 – And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

The meaning of “ensign” was previously discussed.

The meaning of “sign” in Isaiah 66:10 means “in the sense of appearing as a beacon.” It will be “his appearing” that acts as a beacon to draw Israelites home to Israel.

Isaiah 66:19,20 – And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. [20] And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.

The sign, his appearing in the heavens, at his Second Advent will be “the beacon” that draws them home.

Revelation 1:7 – Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Zechariah 12:9,10 – And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. [10] And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for

him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

The split of the one kingdom under Solomon’s son Rehoboam, into the northern kingdom of Israel (Ephraim) and the southern kingdom of Judah, will be healed. They will be a great single kingdom under Christ without envy between the tribes, and all their enemies will have been cut off in the great tribulation period.

ISAIAH 11:13 – The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

Ezekiel also writes of the reuniting of the two sticks of Ephraim and Judah when Messiah comes.

Ezekiel 37:19-22 – Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. [20] And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. [21] And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: [22] And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

This next verse has as many different interpretations as a wild dog has fleas and, quite frankly, over the years I have changed my mind from what I first believed about it. What I now believe follows Isaiah 11:14.

ISAIAH 11:14 – But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

One cannot question that the time Isaiah has brought forth is the millennial reign of Messiah.

So, in order to correctly apply this event that begins his reign, we must consider the first thing that introduces it – the forceful taking of the millennial land grant promised to the Jews through Abraham’s seed Jacob.

Genesis 15:18 – In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

As the Scripture states, Abraham’s land grant was to extend to the east and to the west from Jerusalem. The biblical people that lay immediately to the northeast, east, and southeast of Jerusalem were the 700 B.C. descendants of Ammon, Moab, and Edom. The biblical people living to the northwest, west, and southwest of Jerusalem were the 700 B.C. Philistines (Isaiah 14:31).

The Isaiah 11:14 reference that Israel would “fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines,” refers to swooping down on the present day occupants of this area like a hawk on a chicken – “they shall spoil them of the east together,” means that Israel will take the Philistine land and the spoils of it “together” (along with) the land and spoils of Ammon, Moab, and Edom, the people to the east of Jerusalem. The Scripture does not refer to Israel uniting with the Philistines to the west and, joining with them, spoiling the nations to the east of Jerusalem.

Isaiah 11:14 refers to Israel, at Messiah’s Second Advent, expanding to the east and west to claim the land grant promised to them by Abraham through Jacob.

The Gaza Strip of today was the land of the Philistines in biblical times, and the nation of modern day Jordan encompasses the biblical land containing the nations of Ammon, Moab, and Edom.

Micah 5:5-7 gives an accounting of Israel claiming the Abrahamic Land Grant by force after Messiah returns. For a full exposition of this Scripture, please consult our Prophecy Update Archive Numbers 66 and 67.

Micah 5:5-7 – And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men. [6] And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders. [7] And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

Luke 21:25-28 – And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; [26] Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. [27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. [28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

The negotiations for a truce between Hamas and Israel, being bartered in Cairo by the Egyptian government, is a minute to minute, off again and gone again situation, which gives routinely conflicting daily reports of success and failure over and over again.

However, this has always been the case in the history of dealing with any of the terrorist groups. I do believe an agreement is likely to be reached before the Israeli general election on February 10th because at this time, unless something out of the ordinary occurs, the possibility that Netanyahu will head the next government looms heavily on the minds of the occupants of the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu is not one of California Governor Arnold’s “sissy-men,” and will not hesitate to sent the IDF into the Strip on another full-blown rampage.

As I type this Blog at noon (CST) the situation is “off again” and Hamas is “gone again,” but who knows, by tomorrow Hamas may be “on again.” They had better get “on and stay on again” before February 10th.

Hamas: Draft for Gaza truce has been reached

Egypt and Hamas have reached a draft agreement on a cease-fire with Israel
in the Gaza Strip, a representative from the Islamist group told the

Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram on Thursday.

The representative, Salah al-Bardawil, said that the draft stipulates a
year-and-a-half long truce between Hamas and Israel. It also includes the
opening of all border crossings for 80 percent of goods.

Israel would need
to clarify exactly what type of goods it would allow in, Bardawil said.

Bardawil told the Egyptian newspaper that according to the draft agreement,
the Rafah crossing would be closed from time to time. He also said that
Israel rejected a proposal to station international observers on the Rafah
border.

Israeli security officials said Wednesday they believed Egypt and Hamas were
making significant progress in drafting terms for a long-term lull in
fighting in the Gaza Strip, but that a number of unresolved issues remain
between the two sides.

Egypt had set Thursday as the target date for signing the agreement, but the
differences in opinion mean it may take several more days or even longer
before a deal is reached, with all clarifications set.

Israel is not participating in the talks, but is expected to arrive at a
verbal agreement with Egypt that would allow the lull to continue at a later
date.

Egypt has been push ing for an agreement that

includes a lull for a year and
a half, while Israel prefers to see one lasting only a year, and in the
framework of a non-binding agreement.

A key issue in the negotiations is the opening of Rafah crossing, which
Hamas is seeking to have opened completely, with Turkish troops monitoring
its operation, in accordance with a plan drafted by the United States three
years ago.

Egypt is opposed to such a move, but is nevertheless seeking to
place a force loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the crossing,
a proposal Hamas has thus far resisted.

Another outstanding issue is the Israeli request to create a half-kilometer
buffer zone in the area known as the “security parameter” on the Palestinian
side of the border fence with Israel. Israel is seeking to prevent the entry
of armed militants to the area to combat the placement

of explosive devices
or the digging of tunnels there.

Another critical issue involves the link between the release of captive
Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit with the lull and the opening of
crossings. Israel is demanding that even a partial opening of the crossings
be dependent on progress towards Shalit’s release, for example providing a
clear sign the soldier is still alive. Hamas has until now opposed such a
link.

Egypt has expressed uncertainty in relation to its capacity to force
Hamas into such an agreement, but promised Israel it would make efforts
towards that end.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. “Guy walks into a bar …” No, not that one – this one: “This is the most critical year ever for Palestinian-Israeli diplomacy.

It is five minutes to midnight.

If we don’t get diplomacy back on track soon, it will be the end of the two-state solution.”

I’ve heard that line almost every year for the last 20, and I’ve never bought it. Well, today, I’m buying it.

We’re getting perilously close to closing the window on a two-state solution, because the two chief window-closers – Hamas in Gaza and the fanatical Jewish settlers in the West Bank – have been in the driver’s seats. Hamas is busy making a two-state solution inconceivable, while the settlers have steadily worked to make it impossible.

If Hamas continues to obtain and use longer- and longer-range rockets, there is no way any Israeli government can or will tolerate independent Palestinian control of the West Bank, because a rocket from there can easily close the Tel Aviv airport and shut down Israel’s economy.

And if the Jewish settlers continue with their “natural growth” to devour the West Bank, it will also be effectively off the table.

No Israeli government has mustered the will to take down even the “illegal,” unauthorized settlements, despite promises to the US to do so, so it’s getting hard to see how the “legal” settlements will ever be removed. What is needed from Israel’s February 10 elections is a centrist, national unity government that can resist the blackmail of the settlers, and the rightist parties that protect them, to still implement a two-state solution.

Because without a stable two-state solution, what you will have is an Israel hiding behind a high wall, defending itself from a Hamas-run failed state in Gaza, a Hizbullah-run failed state in south Lebanon and a Fatah-run failed state in Ramallah. Have a nice day.

So if you believe in the necessity of a Palestinian state or you love Israel, you’d better start paying attention. This is not a test.

We’re at a hinge of history.

What makes it so challenging for the new Obama team is that Mideast diplomacy has been transformed as a result of the regional disintegration since Oslo – in three key ways.

First, in the old days, Secretary of State Henry Kissinger could fly to three capitals, meet three kings, presidents or prime ministers and strike a deal that could hold. No more. Today a peacemaker has to be both a nation-builder and a negotiator.

The Palestinians are so fragmented politically and geographically that half of the United States’ diplomacy is going to be about how to make peace between Palestinians, and build their institutions, so there is a coherent, legitimate decision-making body there – before we can make peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Second, Hamas now has veto power over any Palestinian peace deal. It’s true that Hamas just provoked a reckless war that has devastated the people of Gaza. But Hamas is not going away. It is well armed and, despite its suicidal behavior of late, deeply rooted.

The Palestinian Authority led by Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank will not make any compromise deal with Israel as long as it fears that Hamas, from outside the tent, would denounce it as traitorous.

Therefore, Job 2 for the US, Israel and the Arab states is to find a way to bring Hamas into a Palestinian national-unity government.

As the Middle East expert Stephen P. Cohen says, “It is not enough for Israel that the world recognize that Hamas criminally mismanaged its responsibility to its people. Israel’s longer-term interest is to be sure that it has a Palestinian partner for negotiations, which will have sufficient legitimacy among its own people

to be able to sign agreements and fulfill them. Without Hamas as part of a Palestinian decision, any Israeli-Palestinian peace will be meaningless.”

But bringing Hamas into a Palestinian unity government, without undermining the West Bank moderates now leading the Palestinian Authority, will be tricky. Washington will need Saudi Arabia and Egypt to buy, cajole and pressure Hamas into keeping the cease-fire, supporting peace talks and to give up rockets – while Iran and Syria will be tugging Hamas the other way.

And that leads to the third new factor – Iran as a key player in Palestinian-Israeli diplomacy. The Clinton team tried to woo Syria while isolating Iran. President George W. Bush tried to isolate both Iran and Syria. The Obama team, as Martin Indyk argues in “Innocent Abroad: An Intimate Account of American Peace Diplomacy in the Middle East,” “needs to try both to bring in Syria, which would weaken Hamas and Hizbullah, while also engaging Iran”.

So, just to recap: It’s five to midnight, and before the clock strikes 12 all we need to do is rebuild Fatah, merge it with Hamas, elect an Israeli government that can freeze settlements, court Syria and engage Iran – while preventing it from going nuclear – just so we

can get the parties to start talking. Whoever lines up all the pieces of this diplomatic Rubik’s Cube deserves two Nobel Prizes.

Sheikh Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi is very anxious for the Jews to be slaughtered.

The Koran indicates this will be the case in the last days at the hands of Gog and Magog.

Since we, as a nation, have become so politically and economically pushed onto the world stage in an entanglement with the culture of Islam, what they think of us, and how they see our prophetic future in the Koran, is worth considering.

What the Old Testament Bible teaches, concerning our prophetic future with Gog and Magog, is vividly outlined above in our Prophecy Update Archives.. But the Koran shows a different picture in the following direct quote:

Gog and Magog in the Koran Prophecies

“[Koran – The Prophets 21:92-97 – Your religion is but one religion, and I am your only Lord. Therefore serve only me.

Men have divided themselves into schisms, but to Us they shall all return.

He that does good works in the fullness of his faith, his endeavors shall not be lost: We record them all. It is ordained that no nation We have destroyed shall ever rise again. But when Gog and Magog are let loose and rush headlong down every hill; when the true promise nears its fulfillment; the unbelievers shall stare in amazement crying: ‘Woe to us! Of this we have been heedless. We have done wrong.’]”

What happens, according to the Jewish Old Testament, when “Gog and Magog are let loose and rush down every hill” is graphically covered in Ezekiel 38 and 39. I am persuaded that the land of Magog (Russia) occupants are let loose to rush down every hill only when Gog calls them to come down from Russia for the battle of Armageddon at the very end of the Tribulation Period.

Gog is not the chief prince of Magog (Russia). Gog is the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, who were part of the tribes of the Middle East at the time of Ezekiel’s writings. God told Ezekiel to set his face against a person (Gog) and a land (the Land of Magog). The land of Magog is what we call Russia today. All the other descendants (Genesis 10) of Japheth, Ham, and Shem mentioned in Ezekiel 38:1-6 were living in what we call the Middle East.

Ezekiel 38:1-6 – And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, [2] Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, [3] And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: [4] And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: [5] Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: [6] Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.

Before they do let loose and run southward down the hills, eventually to come up on Israel, the land of unwalled villages, they will devise an evil plan to lull it into a false sense of security.

Ezekiel 38:8-11 – After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them. [9] Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land,

thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

If you have children or grandchildren, work with children at church, or you have neighborhood children whose parents you know, please take note of the information below and pass it along to others. Schools are distributing this book to children through the Scholastic Book Club.

The name of the book is ‘Conversations with God.’ James Dobson talked about this book twice this week. It is devastating. Parents, churches and Christian schools need to be aware of it.

Please pass this information on to church/e-mail addresses, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Please pay special attention not only to what your kids watch on TV, in movie theaters, on the internet, and the music they listen to, but also be alert regarding the books they read.

Two particular books are: ‘Conversations with God’ and ‘Conversations with God for Teens,’ written by Neale D.

Walsch. They sound harmless enough by their titles alone.

The books have been on the New York Times best sellers list for a number of weeks, and they make truth of the statement, “Don’t judge a book by its cover or title.”

The author purports to answer various questions asked by kids using the “voice of God”. However, the “answers” that he gives are not Bible-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question, “Why am I a lesbian?” His answer is that she was ‘born that way’ because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed, with brown eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and “celebrate” her differences.

Another girl poses the question “I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?”

His reply is, “Who are you sinning against

? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong.”

Another question asks about God’s forgiveness of sin. His reply, “I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is “judge not lest ye be judged.”

Not only are these books the false doctrine of the devil, but in some instances quote (in error) the Word of God.

And the list goes on. These books (and others like it) are being sold to schoolchildren through (The Scholastic Book Club), and we need to be aware of what is being fed to our children.

The children of our nation are under attack. So I pray that you be sober and vigilant about teaching your children the Word of God, and guarding their exposure to worldly mediums, because our adversary, the devil, roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, weakest and YOUNGEST of its prey.

Please pass this on to every Believer you know. And, if you are in doubt, check out the books yourself.
