The fervor of Islamic Jihad, along with the emotional power of Jihad, is poured out in the “Song of Jihad,” which follows the Scriptures in our heading.

THE SOON COMING CALIPH OF A JIHAD CALIPHATE

II Thessalonians 2:4 – Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Daniel 11:36 – And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

THE RESULTS OF HIS ISLAMIC JIHAD ATTACK ON ISRAEL

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Zechariah 14:1,2 – Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. [2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Daniel 7:25 – And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

THE COMING CALIPHATE OF THE TEN STATUE TOES

Daniel 2:42,43 – And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

KINGDOM GOD WILL SET UP TO REPACE THE CALIPHATE

Daniel 2:44 – And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

KING JESUS THE STONE WHO WILL RULE THE KINGDOM

Daniel 2:45 – Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

THE RETURN OF JESUS TO DESTROY THE CALIPHATE ARMY AND ITS LEADERS, FOLLOWED BY HIS MILLENNIAL REIGN.

Revelation 19:11 to 20:3 – And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. [12] His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. [13] And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. [14] And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. [15] And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

[16] And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. [17] And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; [18] That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. [19] And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. [20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image.

These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. [21] And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. [1] And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. [2] And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, [3] And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Lahore Conference Celebrates Jihad

On August 14, 2008, Pakistan’s Independence Day, the Islamist group Jamatud Dawa – the new name of the banned militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, led by Professor Hafiz Muhammad Saeed – held a conference in Lahore, billed as the “Defend Pakistan Conference.”

Early this year, the U.S. Department of Treasury froze the assets of Professor Saeed and of Lashkar-e-Taiba operational head Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi, finance chief Haji Ashraf, and others.

At the opening of the August 14 conference, a duo of Hafiz Abdul Wadud Hasan and Hafiz Abdur Rauf sang the following song, described by the organizers as the “jihadi tarana (anthem).” The song is downloaded from the Jamatud Dawa website, which posted a recording of the conference. The song begins at at 17: 25 in the recording. To hear the recording of the of the conference, visit:

THE STRAIGHT SKINNY

AN OBJECTIVE ANALYSIS

IN DEFINING A TRUE FLAKE

Please Take the Time to Read It!

It is a magnificent analysis of Obama

And what this nation gets if it elects Him!

Please consider passing this on if you like It!

September 12, 2008

http://www.tribulationperiod.com/

This is by far the best straightforward objective documentary of the life and times of the man who came to us from the music in munchkin land, in the name of a lollypop kid, to welcome us to the land of let’s pretend I have a record of making executive decisions of choice and producing tangible reforms, changes, or results in the real world, during the 120 times I chose to vote “present” as a state legislator, or passing “change” legislation during my long service time of 143 days as a U.S. Senator.

If America elects this flake it will not have a house collapse on it like the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz, but rather a much more accelerated collapse of its prestige, power, and economy.

The odd choices in Barack Obama’s career

By J.R. Dunn

August 20, 2008

It’s time to throw my hat in the ring as regards predicting the election results. So here it is: Barack Obama will be defeated. Seriously and convincingly defeated. Not due to racism, not due to the forces of reaction, not even due to Karl Rove sending out mind rays over the national cable system.

He will lose for one rea son

above all, one that has been overlooked in any analysis that I’ ve yet seen.

after clomid

Barack Obama will lose because he is a flake.

I’m using the term in its generally accepted sense. A flake is not only a screwup, but someone who truly excels in making bizarre errors and creating incredibly convoluted disasters. A flake is a “fool with energy”, as the Russian proverb puts it.

best cialis levitra viagra which

(“A fool is a terrible thing to have around, but a fool with energy is a nightmare”.)

Barack Obama is a flake, and the American people have begun to see it. The chief characteristic of a flake is that he makes choices that are impossible to either understand or explain. These are not the errors of the poor dope who can’t grasp the essentials of a situation, or the neurotic who ruins things out of compulsion, or the man suffering chronic bad luck.

The flake has a genius for discovering solutions at perfect right angles to the ordinary world. It’s as if he’s the product of a totally different evolutionary chain, in a universe where the laws are slightly but distinctly at variance to ours. When given a choice between left and right, the flake goes up — if not through the 8th dimension. And although there’s plenty of rationalization, there’s never a logical reason for any of it. After awhile, people stop asking.

Obama’s rise has been widely portrayed as a kind of millennial Horatio Alger story — young lad from a new state on the outskirts of the American polity, a member of once-despised minority, works his way by slow degrees to within arm’s length of the presidency itself. That’s all well and good — we need national myths of exactly that type.

ethionamide

But what has been overlooked is the string of faux pas marking each step of Obama’s journey, a series of strange, inexplicable actions, actions bizarre enough to require some effort at explanation, through such efforts have rarely been offered. It’s as if the new Horatio made it to the top by stepping into every last manhole and open trapdoor in his path. And we, the onlookers, the voters who are being asked to put this man in the White House, are supposed to take this as the normal career path for a successful chief executive.

What are these incidents? I’m sure many of you are way ahead of me, but let’s go to the videotape.

Here’s a young man who graduated from Columbia with high marks, with a choice of positions anywhere in the country. He comes from a state generally held to be a close match to Paradise. One, furthermore, that can be characterized as the most successful multiracial society in the world, with harmonious relations not only between whites and blacks, but also Japanese-Americans and native Hawaiians as well.

avodart clomid diflucan dostinex glucophage

To top it off, a state controlled in large part by a smoothly-functioning Democratic machine. So where does he choose to go?

To Chicago. One of the windiest, coldest, most brutal cities in the country. One that is also infinitely corrupt in a sense that Hawaii is not. One that remains one of the most racist large cities in the U.S. (Cicero, Al Capone’s old stomping grounds, a suburb that is effectively part of the city, is completely segregated to this day.) It would be nice to learn which of these aspects most attracted young Obama to the city.

add comment effects levitra side

But if you’d asked at the beginning of the campaign, you’d still be waiting.

And what does he do when he reaches the city? Why, he joins a cult.

buy zithromax non-prescription

Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church has been turned inside out since the videotaped sermons appeared early this year, without anyone ever quite explaining exactly what Obama was thinking of when he joined up in the first place. Street cred, so it’s claimed. But there are a plethora of black churches that would have provided him that without the taint of demented racism that Wright’s church offered.

Obama apparently had to swear an oath of belief in “black liberation theology” when he joined the church. (It is the little touches of that sort that make it a “cult”, and not simply a “church”.) Did the thought of his career ever cross his mind? Didn’t he realize that church would inevitably cause him trouble somewhere down the line? That he’d be required to repudiate it and its ideas eventually? We can ask — but we won’t get an answer.

Back at school, Obama got himself named editor of the Harvard Law Review. This is a sign

al achievement, no question about it.

nolvadex tablets

The kind of thing that would be mentioned about a person for the rest of his life, as has been the case with Obama. But then… he writes nothing for the journal.

female viagra

Now, let’s get this straight: here we have one of the leading university law journals in the country, one widely cited and read. Entire careers in legal analysis and scholarship have been founded on appearances in the Review, including some that have led to the highest courts in the country. Yet here’s an individual who, as editor, could easily place his own work in the journal — standard practice, nothing at all wrong with it. But he fails to do so. And the explanation? There’s none that I’ve heard. We can go even farther than that, to say that there is no explanation that makes the least rational sense.

We follow Obama down to Springfield, where as a state legislator, he voted “present” over 120 times. What this means, as far as I’ve been able to discover, is that he voted “present” nearly as much as he voted “yes” or “no”.

Now, statehouses work very simply: a member approaches his colleagues and asks them them to vote for his bill. Some comply, some do not. Some ask, “Is it a good bill?” and some don’t. Either way, they customarily, except in unusual circumstances, vote “yes’ or “no”. All except for Barack Obama. And how did get away with it? How did mollify his colleagues? How did he square himself with the party bosses? Echo answereth not.

(A good slogan could be made of this: “You can’t vote present in the Oval Office.” I hereby commend it to the McCain campaign.)

We turn eagerly to learn what his term in the U.S. Senate will reveal, only to be disappointed. But it’s not surprising, really. After all, he was only there for 143 days.

And there lies one of the keys to Obama’s rise. David Brooks pointed out in a recent New York Times column that Obama spent too little time in any of his positions to make an impact one way or another. This is what saved him from the normal fate of the flake: he was never around long enough for his errors and strange behavior to catch up with him.

But a presidential campaign is a different matter.

A man running for president is under the microscope, and can’t duck anything, as many a candidate has had reason to learn.

If Obama is a flake in the classic mode, now is when it would come out.

phone book

And has it?

The case could be made. Here we have a campaign with everything going for it — the opposition party in a shambles, a seriously undervalued president, the media in the candidate’s pocket, the candidate himself being worshiped as nothing less than the new messiah.

doxycycline cat

And yet the results have comprised little more than one fumble after another.

First came the Wright affair. Obama apparently thought he was above it all — a not-uncommon phenomenon with flakes — and allowed the revelations to take on a life of their own before bothering to respond. Even then, his thoughtful and convincing explanation (that he hadn’t been listening for twenty years) did little to settle the crisis, which instead guttered out on its own after nearly crippling his campaign. Even months afterward it threatens to pop back up at any time. The latest word is that Wright — now a deadly enemy of his onetime protégé — has written a book.

1 monographs cps 20monographs cps 20 general 20monographs 20z zoloft

I can’t wait.

Obama learned his lesson, and confronted the next threat immediately, tackling The New Yorker cover with the avidity of a man having discovered zombies in the basement. A development that could have been defused with a chuckle and a quip (the customary method is for the politician to ask the cartoonist for the original) was allowed to explode into a major issue. The campaign’s relentless attacks on one of the oldest liberal magazines extant merely perplexed the country at large. After all, any Republican has had to endure far worse.

Almost simultaneously, the birth certificate saga was unfolding. On no reasonable grounds, the campaign blew off requests for a copy of the document, at last releasing it through one of the least reputable sites on the Internet, and so badly copied that literally anything could be read into it — and was. I’m not one of those who believes that Obama was actually born in Indonesia/Kenya/Moscow/the moon, but I still have plenty in the way of questions, almost all of them arising from how the matter was handled.

body bro good levitra stuff up whats yea yea

Well played.

The latest pothole (or one of them, anyway) involves Jerome Corsi’s The Obama Nation. Corsi has been given the full New Yorker treatment, with the campaign hoping to avoid John Kerry’s “error” in not challenging Corsi’s 2004 book, Unfit for Command. What Obama missed was the fact that Kerry’s major problem was not with Corsi but with the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, who were disgusted with Kerry’s hypocrisy in running as an experienced military veteran, and set out to take him down. Corsi’s effort dovetailed with the veteran’s campaign and to a large extent was swept up with it. No such campaign is in operation against Obama. The smart method of answering Corsi would have been to allow the media to handle it, instead of drawing attention to the book and raising it to level of an issue. This appears to be a real talent for the Obama campaign.

We could go on. The victory tour of Europe, and the speech in which Obama declared himself “citizen of the world”, a trope guaranteed to focus the attention of Middle America.

blinklist com levitrai

His inept handling of Hillary, in which he wound up appearing frightened of the opponent he’d just beaten. Allowing Hillary (and her husband there, what’s-his-name) a starring role in the Democratic convention is not a solution any sane individual would be comfortable with — much less a roll-call vote. This threatens the near-certainty of turning the entire affair into BillandHillarycon, with the nominee winding up as a footnote. But it’s all of a piece with the campaign Obama has waged up until now.

We’ve never had a flake as president. We’ve had drunks, neurotics, cripples, louts, and fools, but never a career screwup. (I except Jimmy Carter, whose errors arose from sincere, misguided goodwill.) And I don’t think we’re going to get one now. Another three months of flailing, incompetence, and a collapsing image will do little to assure voters concerned with terrorism, the oil crunch, a gyrating economy, and a bellicose Russia. (Anyone doubting that Obama will go exactly this route can consider the Saddleback church fiasco, which unfolded as this piece was being wrapped up. Evidently, the campaign goaded NBC news personality Andrea Mitchell into all but accusing John McCain of “cheating” by failing to take his place within the “cone of silence” during Obama’s part of the program. The grotesque element here is that Obama’s people and much of the liberal commentariat — including Mitchell — apparently believe that the “cone of silence”, a gag prop for the old Get Smart! comedy series, actually exists and was in use at Saddleback.)

Many of us have dealt with flakes at one time or another, often in settings involving jobs and careers, and not uncommonly in positions of some authority. We all know of the nephew, the fiancé, the boyfriend, whose whims must be catered to, whose reputation must be protected, who must be constantly worked around if anything at all is to be accomplished, always at the cost of time, money, efficiency, and personal stress.

In the fullness of time, we will inevitably see such a figure in the White House. But not this year, and not this candidate. Such acts of national flakery occur only when there’s no real alternative. In this election, an alternative exists. Whatever his shortcomings, nobody ever called John McCain a flake.

And Kashmir Scenario Now Coming Together,

As part of the end time events setting stage for the War!

September 11, 2008

http://www.tribulationperiod.com/

The navies of Russia and America are now actively engaged in the act of positioning themselves in waters touching each others coasts, carrying nuclear capabilities, which will cause a standoff when the Middle East war begins. They will not engage as Israel and the Islamic nations slug in out and Israel is driven into the Negev wilderness.

The Pro-Western Arab Moderate countries like Pakistan are internally being driven into the appealing throes of Islamic Jihad and a Caliphate as the best way to survive in their own national interest. They are now engaged in playing the worlds powers against each other, seeking to be sure they are eventually on the winning side in the inevitable conflict all see coming in the Middle East.

Iran is desperately seeing to develop a nuclear warhead for its Shihab missile series and then to produce a nuclear arsenal of hundreds of the warheads. Most of her thermonuclear technology came from renegade Pakistani nuclear physicists. I also believe the Pakistanis will eventually switch from their pro-western stance to become part of a huge Islamic Caliphate stretching from Morocco across the Middle East through India to Indonesia, and consequently Pakistan’s some 150 plus nuclear arsenal will become part of the much desired Arab nuclear deterrent to limit the coming conflict with Israel to a conventional war.

Syria, Iran, Hamas, and Hizbullah are now coordinating in a time of planned standoff from terror activity against Israel to lull her into a sense of false security, while they actively prepare themselves for a war which I believe will begin at some point in time between 2010 and 1015.

The current maize of political and financial instability in Pakistan will eventually cause Pakistan to become a part of a huge Islamic Caliphate stretching from Morocco to India to Indonesia prior to the 2nd Advent of Christ.

Rest assured the long standing dispute between Pakistan and India over Kashmir will eventually end with the Islamic population gaining control and Kashmir becoming part of the Antichrist’s Caliphate.

The two excerpts which follow are lengthy, but one can see in them part of the scenario that is setting up for an eventual final Middle East war beginning at some point in time between 2010 and 2015.

Zardari looks to US for cash lifeline

By Syed Fazl-e-Haider

September 10, 2008

QUETTA, Pakistan – Newly elected President Asif Ali Zardari, tasked with running a country slipping ever deeper into financial crisis, may be looking to exploit the US perception of Pakistan as an important theater in the “war on terror” to strengthen the country’s economy.

Zardari, after taking oath as president on Tuesday, pledged to “tighten the belt” but rejected the option of seeking an assistance package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

[…..]

President George W Bush, who has termed Pakistan a major theater in the global “war on terror”, telephoned Zardari after his election to president and pledged full support in the event Pakistan takes the fight to the terrorists and extremists in the country’s border regions. In a speech to the US National Defense University on Tuesday, Bush also sent a message to the new government in Islamabad that in the “war on terror” it has no option but to continue to play the role assigned to it after the September 11, 2001, World Trade Center and other attacks in the US.

[…..]

By 2005, it was the third-largest recipient of the Pentagon’s Regional Defense Counter-terrorism Fellowship Program, which is aimed at training foreign forces in counter-terrorism techniques. The country got debt write-offs and witnessed a continuous rise in investment from the US during past five years.

In 2006-07, the US led investments with US$1.54 billion, followed by Britain with $1.14 billion. US and British total foreign investment (direct and portfolio) in 2006-07 had increased by $1.78 billion from $888 million in the year to June 2007.

Since Musharraf’s departure, the spread on Pakistan’s five-year credit default swaps has widened by 200 basis points to 900/1,000 basis points, indicating an increased concern that the country will default on its debt.

[…..]

Pakistan desperately needs dollar inflows to rescue its shrinking foreign reserves, which are rapidly being depleted due to high payments for oil imports and the flight of capital caused by the political uncertainty since the assassination last December of Zardari’s wife and former two-time prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Foreign exchange reserves fell to $8.89 billion as of September 3, down from $9.13 billion on August 30. The central bank’s reserves shrunk to $5.5 billion from $5.76 billion. Inflation measured by the weekly Sensitive Price Index (SPI) inflation hit 31.55% in the week ended September 4, compared with a year earlier, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics.

The surge in inflation occurred on the back of higher food prices coupled with the higher domestic cost of oil. The government is unwilling to reduce oil prices in the domestic market, even though they have tumbled to $105 per barrel from $147 in the international market. The SPI data shows that the worst hit are households with monthly incomes of 3,000 rupees (US$39).

A Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) board meeting on Tuesday decided to maintain a floor placed on the index on August 28 last month after heavy losses due to the political uncertainty and deteriorating economic fundamentals. The decision to maintain the floor, at 9,144 points, after the market hit 26-month lows reflects that political uncertainty is not over even after Musharraf’s exit and Zardari’s election.

The benchmark KSE 100-share index on Tuesday lost 0.18%, or 16.61 points, to close at 9,279.62 on a low turnover of 7.62 million shares. Local analysts believe that most potential investors will stay out of the market to avoid further losses until some positive developments take place on the political front. They see no immediate recovery, despite higher dividend and bonus shares coming on the board each day.

The growing trade and current account deficits are exerting pressure on macroeconomic indicators. The current account deficit is at 8.4% of gross domestic product and the local currency has lost more than 20% against the US dollar this year, further weighing on the stock markets.

[…..]

Musharraf’s military policy in the tribal areas contributed immensely to his unpopularity in Pakistan. If Zardari follows in Musharraf’s footsteps, he will bring more US aid money and investment at the expense of his and his party’s popularity, according to some analysts.

During the past five years, Pakistan received $1 billion annually as US assistance related to the “war on terror”. In turn, the military operations conducted against terrorists in the tribal belt along the Afghanistan border have carried considerable human and economic costs.

More than 1,500 Pakistani soldiers, police officers and intelligence personnel have been killed and thousands others have suffered serious physical injuries in fighting the Taliban and al-Qaeda in the tribal areas.

The economic costs of infrastructure destruction as a result of fighting are also mounting.

Taliban suicide bombings in cities including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi have added to the human and economic disaster. Budgetary allocations for improving law and order have been increasing, but the worsening situation following counter-terrorism operations in the tribal areas has been a major factor in reducing the country’s ability to attract foreign capital, according to economists.

Kashmiri Leader: ‘Osama [Bin Laden] Has Come Only During the Last Few Years; People Like Me Have Been Fighting For This All Our Lives’

A land dispute in Indian Kashmir has recently turned into a movement for independence from India.

allopurinol 20

The dispute originated when the government of India’s Jammu and Kashmir state decided to grant some 20 hectares of forest land to a Hindu trust, the Amarnath Shrine Board. This led to strong protests from the Muslims in the Kashmir Valley, forcing the government to renege on the grant – and also angering the Hindus in the Jammu region of the state and sparking violent state-wide protests in which over two dozen people have been killed.

In 1947, at the time of partition, the princely state of Kashmir was autonomous, choosing to be in neither India nor Pakistan. The largely Muslim population lived under a Hindu ruler. Over the next year, irregulars from the army of the newly created Pakistan marched into Kashmir. The helpless Hindu ruler signed an instrument of accession to India, inviting Indian troops. As a consequence, Kashmir was split between India and Pakistan at the Line of Control, where troops from both sides established a de facto border. Then-Indian prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru took the matter to the U.N. and promised a plebiscite for Kashmiris. However, Pakistan, perceived at that time by the Kashmiris as an aggressor state, was not ready for plebiscite. Later, India too reneged on its promise of a plebiscite. The deadlock continues even today.

The recent state-wide protests, led by the secessionist All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), have turned into demands for freedom from India. The APHC, an alliance of nearly two dozen political and religious Muslim groups, is headed by Kashmiri leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. Geelani, 79, is a former Jamaat-e-Islami leader and currently heads the hard-line, pro-Pakistan and Islamist faction of the alliance.

Farooq, 35, whose title “Mirwaiz” is a traditional Kashmiri designation for “chief priest,” leads the moderate and pragmatic voices in the secessionist alliance.

Following are interviews with the two Kashmiri leaders on the current situation, both originally published in English. The interview with Syed Ali Geelani appeared August 24, 2008 in the New Delhi newspaper Business Standard, and the interview with Mirwaiz Umer Farooq was published in the September 1, 2008 issue of the New Delhi-based weekly magazine Outlook.

The two interviews reflect the different ways in which this minor land dispute was transformed into a widespread demand for Kashmir’s independence from India. The Geelani interview shows how jihadist thinking is taking over the Kashmiri movement, while the Farooq interview articulates an autonomous Kashmiri movement and advocates against any likely unification of Kashmir with Pakistan.

Syed Ali Geelani: We Want “To Impose an Islamic [System In] Kashmir”; “Secularism Should Not Touch Our Lives”

“Question: We all know the history of Kashmiri separatism, but what was the immediate provocation for the ongoing massive protests?

“Syed Ali Geelani: The upsurge has not happened suddenly. The sentiment for azadi [freedom] was always there. However, the transfer of 50 acres of forest land to the Amarnath Shrine Board made Kashmiris realise once again how insecure they feel.

how do antibiotics affect birth control pills

This acted as a trigger. Suddenly, people have started thinking about the 100,000 acres of land that is with the army.

“Under the guise of ‘Operation Sadhbhavana [Harmony],’ the army has usurped huge parcels of land and seems to be expanding its network. I have information that the army has seized 23 acres of land for opening a school in Pahalgam.

“Question: The schools being opened by the army are for Kashmiri children.

body bro good levitra stuff up whats yea yea

Why object to this?

“Syed Ali Geelani: I know the schools are meant for Kashmiris. But they are also meant to make them sing Vande Mataram [Indian national song] and not offer namaz [Islamic prayer]. The aim of these schools is to turn Kashmiri children into pure Indians. This is cultural aggression on our Islamic values and is not acceptable to us. In fact, apart from fighting for the right to self-determination for 62 years, we have also been fighting against the cultural aggression by India.

“Question: So the transfer of land is not the real issue, as many have been saying.

“Syed Ali Geelani: Yes, they are right. Land is not an issue for us. It has just acted as a catalyst to shape peoples’ sentiments into an upsurge.

“Question: There are differences even among the separatists – some raise the slogan of azadi, while people like you want Kashmir to go with Pakistan. How do you resolve this dilemma among yourself, beyond your occasional shows of unity?

“Syed Ali Geelani: Our unity is based on a single point – implementation of the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir (which asked India and Pakistan to hold a plebiscite in undivided Jammu & Kashmir to find out if the people of the state want to be with India or Pakistan). However, I do agree that there are differences among us.

“While I am for Kashmir going to Pakistan, there are voices that seek independence from both India and Pakistan. I also agree that there are people in Kashmir who would like to go with India. They argue that India has done so much for Kashmir. Others are fascinated by its secularism and democracy. But then we must not forget that there were discordant even when Indians fought the British.

“Question: Your party, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, has expanded its network. What precisely do you stand for?

“Syed Ali Geelani: Ever since my release from prison on August 7, 2004, I have been spreading my message across Kashmir. I have a three-point programme. First to impose an Islamic nizam (Islamic system) [in] Kashmir. Islam should govern our lives, be it in our political thought, socio-economic plans, culture or [other…].

“The creed of socialism and secularism should not touch our lives, and we must be totally governed by the Koran and the Sunnat (precedents from Prophet Mohammad’s life).”

“We Must Fight Against Anti-Islamic Forces [That Come] Under the Garb of Nationalists, Secularists, Racists, Linguistic Chauvinists, And So On”

“Secondly, I have been propagating that we must fight against anti-Islamic forces. These forces come in our way under the garb of nationalists, secularists, racists, linguistic chauvinists, and so on.

“Thirdly, I have been telling the youth to work for the right to self-determination which is granted to them by the United Nations. I have been drawing huge support from the youth for this as a result of which you see lakhs [1 lakh = 100,000] of people on the roads today.

“Question: In essence, Osama bin Laden’s crusade to establish Islamic rule across the globe seems no different from yours.

Bestellen kein rezept Generic Clomid online

“Syed Ali Geelani: Osama has come only during the last few years. People like me have been fighting for this all our lives. I do not want to be compared with Osama.

“Question: Your differences with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference came to the fore recently when you tried to project yourself as the sole leader of the (separatist) movement. What made you issue a public apology later?

“Syed Ali Geelani: During the last four years, I have been holding public rallies all over Kashmir. I have a routine – first I explain my three-point programme to the audience, then I ask them if they agree to the idea of the movement having a single leader, and finally, people raise slogans favouring me as their sole leader.

“This is what happened at the public rally with the Hurriyat leaders. Some of the Hurriyat leaders did not like my being endorsed as a leader by the crowd and walked out. It was my moral duty to apologise to them and I did.

cheap antibiotics online

“Question: Are you talking about Kashmir alone or the entire state, which includes Hindus and Buddhists, both of whom would not like to live in an Islamic dispensation of your dreams?

“Syed Ali Geelani: I want the right to self-determination for the entire territory of Jammu & Kashmir, including the areas under Pakistan. Let people decide once and for all which country they want to be with. The question of imposing an Islamic rule is different. Why do people object to it? If America and India can have democratic rule, others can have Communism, why object to the Islamic rule?

“Question: How bothered are you by the agitation in Jammu, where [Hindu] leaders are angry precisely about this point: the Kashmiri leaders’ hidden agenda behind the Amarnath land controversy?

“Syed Ali Geelani: Jammu’s people are working on communal [religious] lines. But it is a fact that the transfer of land is not the core issue for us.

“Question: But India and Pakistan are working on solutions other than giving Kashmir the right to self-determination. What are your objections?

“Syed Ali Geelani: Pakistan has extended all support to us so far. The India-Pakistan dialogue is nothing new. In fact, the two have held 130 rounds of peace talks since 1952. What have they achieved so far? India is just biding its time in Kashmir by prolonging the dialogue with Pakistan. It won’t achieve anything.

“Question: If the recent protests led by you and the Hurriyat leaders are true indicators of your popular support, why not contest in elections and prove it?

“Syed Ali Geelani: Elections were never on our agenda and our stand has not changed on this. We believe in boycotting of the elections.”

Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: The Kashmiri “Rejects The Present System; This Does Not Necessarily Mean He Would Choose Pakistan”

“Question: How would you like to see New Delhi manage the situation?

“Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: There seems to be no policy in New Delhi. You are right – they want to manage and not address the situation. India is a responsible power and now, with the U.S. nuclear deal, it is seen as a big power.

diflucan cost

“But with power you also have responsibility. You can’t shun responsibility on an issue like Kashmir. It is so sad that Kashmir is judged by people in India from a Pakistan perspective.

“Question: Has there been any attempt by the Manmohan Singh government to solve the problem?

“Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: This government has done nothing. The [previous Atal Bihari] Vajpayee government was keen to move forward. Vajpayee had a personal sort of interest in trying to see that there is movement in the (peace) process. With the [ruling] Congress the problem is that they still have a colonial bent of mind. They only see Kashmir as a live issue when a bomb goes off or people die in firing. And now that elections are due in India, parties they are trying to play politics in the name of Kashmir – the BJP [right-wing party] in the name of religion and the Congress in the name of national security.

“Question: Are you pro-Pakistan? Many slogans raised (in the rallies and protest marches) were for Pakistan and an Islamic state.

“Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: Please look at the mood of the people. When someone on the street here says Pakistan or Nizam-e-Mustafa [rule of Prophet Muhammad], what are they trying to convey? What he (the Kashmiri) is saying is that he rejects the present system. This does not necessarily mean he would choose Pakistan.

nolvadex tablets

People here know what has been happening within Pakistan.

“They are disappointed with what has become of the political system there. There is also a feeling that Pakistan has lost interest in Kashmir. Some people come and complain to me that PTV or the Pakistan media is not covering the events in Kashmir prominently.

“Question: Many slogans are also raised in support of a militant group like the Lashkar [-e-Taiba of Pakistan]…

Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: (Laughs) This is to agitate the Indians. Militancy is not so strong now, though it might be alive. The Lashkar slogan is about a sentiment. It is wrong to say that Kashmir was always about militancy.

“Question: Are you scared by the force of this movement?

“Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: I am scared in a sense that I know this has to be controlled.

A spontaneous movement is at times hard to [control].

“Question: How do you respond to Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s dramatic proclamation of his own solitary leadership?

“Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: This is a mass movement, and plainly not driven by one leader. I don’t know what was going through his mind when he made that declaration.

“Question: Who is keeping in touch with you from New Delhi?

“Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: No one at all. I have only been contacted by the local district collector who came yesterday to talk about the U.N. march. Of course I will talk if someone comes, as doors cannot be closed. No home ministry official, no envoy from Delhi, I promise. Maybe they will now speak to Geelani saab as he has said that he is the single leader of Kashmir (laughs).

“Question: Would you have ever considered taking part in an election?”

Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: Ultimately, yes. But you can’t expect the Hurriyat to go for elections with nothing

to offer if none of our demands are met.

“Question: Would a dialogue help now?

“Mirwaiz Umer Farooq: Manmohan Singh is a nice person, but as a leader he has failed. He has nothing to offer the people of Kashmir. I don’t think anything will happen till the general elections are over.”

Orthodox Christianity under threat

By Nicholas Gage

Monday, September 8, 2008

When Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and his Islamic-rooted party came under fierce fire this summer from secularists, who came close to persuading the country’s supreme court to bar both from politics, he called the campaign an attack against religious freedom and a threat to Turkey’s efforts to join the European Union.

Yet in nearly six years in power, Erdogan has shown no inclination to extend even a modicum of religious freedom to the most revered Christian institution in Turkey – the Patriarchate of Constantinople, the spiritual center of 300 million Orthodox Christians throughout the world. As a result, Turkey’s persecution of the Patriarchate looms as a major obstacle to its European aspirations, and rightly so.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate, which was established in the fourth century and once possessed holdings as vast as those of

the Vatican, has been reduced to a small, besieged enclave in a decaying corner of Istanbul called the Phanar, or Lighthouse. Almost all of its property has been seized by successive Turkish governments, its schools have been closed and its prelates are taunted by extremists who demonstrate almost daily outside the Patriarchate, calling for its ouster from Turkey.

The ecumenical patriarch, Bartholomew I, is often jeered and threatened when he ventures outside his walled enclave.

He is periodically burned in effigy by Turkish chauvinists and Muslim fanatics. Government bureaucrats take pleasure in harassing him, summoning him to their offices to question and berate him about irrelevant issues, blocking his efforts to make repairs in the few buildings still under his control, and issuing veiled threats about what he says and does when he travels abroad.

Successive Turkish governments have followed policies that deliberately belittle the patriarch, refusing to recognize his ecumenical status as the spiritual leader of a major religious faith but viewing him only as the head of the small Greek Orthodox community of Istanbul.

cheapest head strong

Last year 42 of the 50 members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to Erdogan urging his government to “end all restrictions” on the religious freedom of the Patriarchate, described by Tom Lantos, who then chaired the committee, as “one of the world’s oldest and greatest treasures.” The congressmen urged the Turkish government to join the rest of the world in recognizing the ecumenical standing of the Patriarchate, to return expropriated property, to reopen its schools, including the renowned theological seminary on the island of Halki, and to end all interference in the process of selecting the patriarch, particularly the “continued insistence that he be a Turkish citizen.”

As Orthodox Christians have been systematically persecuted in Turkey and there are now less than 2,500 of them left in the country, the congressmen wrote, the Patriarchate will soon cease to exist if future patriarchs

have to be Turkish citizens. “It is the church, not the Turkish state, that should determine who becomes ecumenical patriarch,” their chairman declared.

best cialis levitra viagra which

Despite their letter and other efforts by statesmen from many countries to try to persuade the Turkish government to liberalize their policies toward the Patriarchate, its leaders have not budged – even though they know their stand may harm their chances of entering the European Union.

cipro 500

Their intransigence clearly demonstrates that while they want to enter Europe for its economic advantages, they are not prepared to liberalize their policies enough to alleviate Western concerns about allowing them to join. Until Turkey moves to make the fundamental changes necessary, starting with its policies toward the Patriarchate, admission of the country into the EU will pose major risks.

When I was covering Turkey for The New York Times in the late 1970s, its population was 34 million. Today it is 71 million and growing, while the birthrate in Europe is falling precipitously.

diflucan cost

In addition, Turkey’s combined troop strength of 1.1 million overwhelms the armed forces of even the biggest European nations.

after clomid

If Turkey becomes a full member of the European Union, will it accommodate to Europe’s liberal traditions or will it use its demographic and military prowess to bend Europe to its will? The EU has already ruled that Turkey must allow the ships of Cyprus, an EU member, to use Turkish ports, but Turkey has completely ignored the ruling despite its eagerness to join Europe. So the key question is whether Turkey is willing to adapt to Europe or wants only to join the EU on its own terms. It is crucial for Europe to know Turkey’s real intentions before opening its doors to the country.

Turkey’s treatment of the Patriarchate, therefore, must remain a litmus test of its readiness to join the European Union. If Turkey cannot recognize the value of “one of the world’s oldest and greatest treasures” in its own midst, how can it be expected to appreciate and respect the liberal values and traditions that define Europe? If Turkey insists on entering Europe on its own inflexible terms, the danger that it will overwhelm Europe, engulf it and change it radically cannot be underestimated.

The Patriarch of Constantinople himself has said that he believes the risk is worth taking and that he strongly supports Turkey’s admission. I, too, believe that Turkish membership holds great benefits for all concerned, especially the Turkish people, but not as Turkey is constituted today – intolerant, suspicious, inflexible.

For Turkey to join Europe, it must show that it is ready to take great strides in adopting a European outlook, not the baby steps it has taken until now.

doxycycline cat

The best way to begin is with the Patriarchate at the Phanar, “the Lighthouse,” which can become a beacon to light a path for Turkey into Europe, if only the country’s leaders find the wisdom to see it.

The U.S. government on Tuesday said it had approved up to $330 million in three separate arms deals for Israel for bombs, Patriot missile upgrades, and anti-armor weapons. Sources tracking a much bigger deal for 25 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jets, plus an option for at least 50 more, said that agreement could be approved later this month. The Pentagon is solidly backing Israel’s request for the fighter jets, which are being designed by the U.S. and eight other countries to replace the F-16. Maj. Gen. Nesterenko played down the presence of the TU-142 in his statement that a smallish Russian flotilla would be holding naval training exercises off Venezuela in November. Our sources inferred that the warplanes would land in October, arriving before the flotilla, which will be bigger and more formidable than the Russian and Venezuelan spokesmen indicated.

According to DEBKAfile’s military sources, it will consist of six to eight vessels, led by the Kirov Class (Type 1144.2) Peter the Great nuclear-powered heavy missile cruiser, one of the largest warships in the world, which is designed to guard the rest of the group against submarine and air attack.

It is armed with the Granit (NATO designated SS-N-19 Shipwreck) long range, anti-ship missile system, consisting of 20 missiles. If the lead missile is intercepted, one of the others moves into the lead role.

Peter the Great is also equipped with 40 S-300F air defense missiles.

Other ships in the Russian flotilla are the Admiral Chabanenko , the Russian navy’s most advanced guided missile anti-submarine battleship, and the guided nuclear missile cruiser Pyotr Velikiy . They will be escorted by five smaller warships and a fuel vessel.

DEBKAfile’s military experts deduce from the makeup of the Russian group that, while it is being presented as primarily defensive, it fact it is the core infrastructure of an important Russian air and fleet presence for shielding a potential assault deployment in the event of a Kremlin decision to base one in Venezuela.
